Seems they are dumping 1 meg cache now? Why ? seems strange to killl a bit of performance.

not by much, and in general desktop use you will not notice it. Another plus is they will run cooler which is good for OEMs

I don't think any of the Brisbane cores had 1mb of L2 per core, right? So, nothing has really changed.

You got that right m8, it is also slower (by 2-3 cycles) then
the 90nm but definetly run cooler.

There might be a few people interested in these "new" cpu,
once the SB750 is out and people will put their Phenoms
there, leaving room in 790fx SB600 boards.
I'll probably be one of them.

    I bought one.

Going to see what it can do OC-wise.
I figured it's a huge step up from my Barton 2600+
Going to get a SB750 board and wait for Deneb

guess amd is finally getting their 65nm process down, about time honestly, but I guess better late than never. It's too bad they couldn't have released the 3ghz chip back in 2006, that could have really helped them out. Ohh well, hopefully deneb's ipc is at least 15% faster and they get their clockspeeds up

    Oh I know... but....

The hurricane will probably push that back to late next week or early in the week after, assuming Hanna doesn't also do what Katrina does and also hit the gulf.

Gustav is set to hit early Tuesday... and not even UPS will eventure out in that kind weather. I'll probably have category 2 or 3 conditions where I live depending on where the storm hits. Idealy, 1 or a tropical storm is better, but I won't know till Sunday or Monday night where the storm is going to make landfall.

Let's both cross our fingers the UPS building doesn't flood (I drive by it daily, so I know exactly where it is).

    I'm not worried.

I didn't have much time to play with it since the wife was demanding her computer back, but 3.2 on stock volts was easy.
