those are good, but not good enough to out do my Biostar TPower I45.

It's very ram fussy but still fun with the right kit. That biostar is one I've been watching since it first appeared. Crazy clocker

it does VERY well!...and..you don't need huge voltages unless you are trying for a record.

Sorry I didn't get back with the link sooner, glad you found it. Nice oc on the e8400 loonym. Just curious have you ever personally seen a Q6600 run at 4Ghz stable?

what is your definition of "stable?"...many of us have different takes on stable!

I can bench q6600 4ghz air but not even close to what I'd call stable. With water people do it, though you need a pretty good cpu I think.

Hey guys I have some small issues with this motherboard. To also add, I am also a noob at overclocking. Anyhow...

In the bio setting of the x48T, what options am I looking for to raise the volts to the core or cpu?

And also, how would I know that if I am putting to much power or over volting?

Hey Guys, back again! I followed on the two study that Ace posted, but I having trouble getting 100% stable. :P

Occasionally when I start up my computer or when I put it to heavy stress, the computer cases starts making a clicking sound, and then suddenly restarts my computer or goes overload blank, and it seems like it coming directly from the CPU. Anyway to diagnose what that is?

post your voltages, what mhz and what memory speed you trying to run.

tell us about the specs of your memory sticks..size and design specs.

Thanks for the replies, to me stable means you can run everything as though you were at stock.

Got the X48T back from gigabyte today. Still haven't had a chance to hook it up to test but I will after my daughter goes to bed. I have a x3360 ready to drop in.
They still have the p35-ds3l even though I sent them at the same time.

edit: zoolio, if you read this, I still haven't gotten that f6a from the gigabyte guy I emailed. Would you send it to me??...

Just wanted to drop in really quick. I love reading these forums to see how I can squeeze everything I can out of my hardware, but I unfortunately had the same corrupt F5 bios problems (I shouldn't have flashed but I thought it would help with issues I am having with my QX9770) and had to RMA it, I recieved it back from repair last friday(8/8) just 2 weeks after sending it off.

They gave me a lil scare because they packed it in a AMD mobo box. I almost had a heart attack seeing that logo when I unpacked it, but everything is working right and they even flashed me to the new (non broken) F5 and things are running smooth.

I still am having the same issues I was having before, but I think it may be my memory, but I'll fight that battle a different day. Anyways just wanted to give you guys a quick update, and to say keep up the good work. Also, it was kinda weird but they never emailed me to say they received, repaired, or were shipping my board.

I've been patiently waiting since 7/25 to post here. Finally got approved!

Anyway, I was one of the victims of the f5 bios. It bricked my GA-X48t-DQ6. Since I had only had the board for 4 hours before I bricked it I sent it back to Newegg same day I got it and had a replacment in 6 days. Great service. Bad luck that a crappy bios is released the day I get my board.

So the board comes with f4 bios and I fear ever upgrading the bios on this board again (can anyone say "dual redundant failover bios BS?"). Is the current bios on Gigabyte's web site stable or will I brick another board?

Actually, this is pretty much the best x48t thread out there, and I wanted to pick your brains. Hence, here I am.

Ace, I chatted a bit with you via PM when you had that board and RAM on the classifieds. Glad to see it found a new home.

Anyhow, I've been at it for a while on this x48t and it's been a pretty good experience so far. It's paired with Gskill 1600 7-7-7-18, and a Q6600(which has reached 4.0GHz on my 680i). I'm sitting at a nice stable 3.6GHz with the RAM truckin along nicely at rated 1600 and 7-7-7-18 @ 1.9v. I am on the f5a BIOS and it seems to be alright, although any suggestions as to a better version would be much appreciated.

As you guys can imagine moving from an Nvidia 680i bios to a Intel Gigabyte Bios is quite a shock, but with the help of this thread I've taken a pretty good run at it. Thank you.

Can I please have some info on the following M.I.T settings(ie: what the heck do they actually do???):

Performance Enhance - Standard, Turbo, Extreme. I leave this one at standard, but have seen some of you guys use turbo. It tends to make my OC unstable.

CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control - 800,900,1000. - This one confuses me. I can't figure which setting would help more.

CPU Clock Skew Control............: Normal - I leave this to normal all the time, don't know about you guys.
(G)MCH Clock Skew Control.........: Normal - Same with this one.

CPU GTLREF1 Voltage*.......(67%)..: Auto - These stay at default as well.
CPU GTLREF2 Voltage*.......(61%)..: Normal

Any help would be much appreciated.

The current bios on Gigabytes Taiwan site is ok, I flashed my mobo with it. There are also plenty of flashing tips (use Qflash) etc on tweaktown's official gigabyte forum.

As for the setting in MIT, anandtech's review of the GA-X48T-DQ6 explained alot and also has submissions for a 400 and 450Mhz FSB bios set.

Good luck, nice to know the F5 bios drama's have been resolved and that gigabyte is honouring it's comitment to it's customers.
