lets see if warhead fixes that multi gpu problem

    those numbers are impressive, though
    system:

    Phenom II 920 3.5Ghz @ 1.4v, benchstable @ over 3,6Ghz (didnt test higher)
    xigmatek achilles
    sapphire hd4870 1gb @ 820 1020
    Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H
    8gb a-data 4-4-4-12 800
    x-fi xtrememusic
    rip 2x 160gb maxtor(now that adds up to 4...)
    320gb/250gb/500gb samsung

I quite believe this very good scaling is due to the CrossFireX Sideport present on the new GPUs RV770, nothing to do with PCB design
    Are we there yet?

Yep this X2 scales way better then 2 crossfire single GPU's... it was my replay to grimpreaper who didn't seem to be impressed by these massive numbers by adding a 2nd card... gains here are huge (if true ofcourse)
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

man, that's powerful, and compared to what nvidia initially wanted this will also be very price appealing (especially considering the low cost of 790gx boards for amd users)

Why does every video card thread end up as a Crysis bashfest?

    • i7 920 D0 // eVGA X58 SLI // 12GB G.Skill Ripjaws // HD6950 (6970 BIOS)
    • Apogee XT // MCP655 // Thermochill PA120.3 // CM HAF 932

Because everyone is frustrated for not being able to play the game maxed out.

    Lightbulb

Where are all the Nvidia fan boys(WAR-B, have you seen these scores). All the same most people finially have something to upgrade. Maybe i will upgrade to HD 4870x2 by the end of the year, so that the price will drop and the beta drivers would have been replaced. Please is something wrong with XS mailing, as i don´t get my daily mails any longer

NB: Am not an ATI fan boy; I still use an 8800GTS

this is XS.... he has made many non bias reviews and I have also seen many posts showing he has in fact used ATI cards just as much he does nVidia... again no bias.....

Im sure if he had a pair of 4870X2s he could really stress test them AND put them up side by side with a pair of 9800GX2s, GTX280s, etc.

so no he has not the king of all independent testers.... maybe just XS... for now

    Same nonsense, different thread!

The reason people are asking if it can max crysis is because we already have [much cheaper] cards that can max out every other game.

Those results are amazing...if ATi can pull off good drivers and have the support in all games they will be onto another sure winner
HD4870X2 is epic, I've not quite found a word to describe the results for the HD4870X2 Crossfire results posted....other than mouthwateringsupercduperframeratepusherFTW.
Not meaning to sound too much like an nVidia Fanboy raining on ATI's Parade but my concern is that you would require your own PowerSub Station to power your PC....but hey....this is XtremeSystems and there are few things more Xtreme than having your own dedicated Power Station

Bogus. That's what I get for blindly linking the article which was posted on Rage3D.

Who was it that put a tri-SLI GTX280 rig under ln2 and got a vantage extreme score of X17k? I'd love to see dual 4870X2s under ln2!

I'm not sure it's that bad, especially compared to 3 GTX280's, or maybe even 2.

Is there anything known about its power usage?

Sounds like KP, though i'm sure those 3 280's at stock still got a higher score than this quad-fire result, so i'm not sure ln2 would outperform tri-sli in that test.

If I remember correctly, the stock score was X14K. And obviously, even at stock, the CPU being used was far faster than the phenom used for X11-12K quadfire.

Seems like most of those games had playable frame rates with a single card to begin with. I look forward to seeing how well CF scales in more demanding games. The horse power is there, but are the drivers?

Looks like ATI will continue to dominate the price/performance levels. That is some damn impressive scaling.

I would push the cards hard and I would be fair, hopefully scaling is what they claim and not epic fail in games like I have experianced before.

We will soon see from independant benchers, we all win from a good price/performance battle in the gpu market.

    HD 4870 X2: Crossfire-X-Interconnect

"Now it is clear what AMD means with Crossfire-X-Interconnect. It is a bidirectional link between two graphic chips with 5 GB/s. The total interconnect bandwidth by HD 4870 X2 is 21.8 GB/s against 6.4 GB/s by HD 3870 X2."
