This is for now. Problem was with my memory, maybe too aggressive setup with too low memory voltage. I'll deal with memory later. Passed 12 hours of Blend and Small FTT-s.

    Is this safe?

Mine needs 1.376V under load to run stable at 4,0 GHz. Maximum temperatures under load while stress testing are 64 C. Is this OK for 24/7, or I should run it at lower voltage?

1.376 and 64c does not sound at all bad for benching or stress testing. While those numbers would be a bit much 24/7 keep in mind that you will rarely attain those temps during normal usage and then not for long. The consensus on vCore seems to be to not exceed 1.4v.

So, I'm fine with 4,0 GHz. Anyway I have strange proccessor batch. For 3,6 GHz it needs 1.232V under load, for 3,8 GHz it needs 1,304V under load, and for 4,0 GHz needs 1,376V under load... it has big gaps for little change in speeds...

Mine VID is 1,225V and batch Q816A678. Although it doesn't heat a lot. At 1.376V max temperatures 64 C with air cooling. So lot guys here with earlier batches that need less voltage for 4,0 GHz but their temperatures go like wild...

My 8400 is exactly like yours.

4ghz with 1.376v.... But this one goes up to 71c even with watercooling
As soon as I boot for the first time, the time it takes me to enter the bios the Temperature already shows 38º

waterblock contact is perfect, so...... why so hot lol

Are you using RealTemp? Because CoreTemp and Everest show wrong temperatures... they have wrong TJ Max...

yes, 71c with realtemp (tj 95) with orthos small ftt.

probably close to the correct temp. The radiator is pumping alot of heat (nothing serious or burning).

Its just weird that some aircooling are doing 4ghz with a lot less heat....

Well, I guess Nirvana is pretty good air cooling and this temperatures I have are in pretty warm room, around 30 C....

If you're using water at 4.0 GHz and RealTemp shows 71C then you likely have cores making horrible contact with your IHS.

well I guess I will only know that after I try a different cpu this weekend
The radiator does pump a lot of heat so it indicates there's a transfer going on between the cpu/waterblock.

Today I added a second radiator to the loop to deal with my watercooled 4870 because I dont trust my first one to handle a 71c e8400 and a 4870 at the same time...

The pump (eheim 600L 12v) is feeling very restricted though.... With all installed, she can only pump water about 3cm into the air
Wasn't there a theory about slow water? the more it stays in one place, more heat it absorbs.
Oh well.... its the price to pay for a 0db PC

    WTF?...34 degres idle and max 42 with ZALMAN 9700CNPS at 1.5VCore ....i can't belive that...that are temp for watercooling...and a good WC...

    ...i think it's possible...my old E8400 at 4120mhz got @ 38~39 degres idle and 49-50degres full...anyway...it's not a bad chip at all...the Vcore it's not the problem...look at me...i cannot reach 4.2GHZ like u because the temps go crazy...i got the same Cooler like u, and i run 8x / 470 FSB = 4GHZ @ 49 degres idle low RPM / 64 degres full high RPM /....and now i cry because i sell my old E8400...

The more heat it absorbs and the less heat it dumps out to your radiator. Your 71C core temperature makes a little more sense now.
