NDA lift is on Wednesday. I think this chipset will surprise some, just not in the way most think it will.

You mean in addition to the overclocking and ACC stuff?

Is this the "big secret" you mentioned but couldn't talk about?

    ================================================

    MY GUESS #1:
It has a built in hardware IOP for RAID and not just the normal software raid like most motherboards?

That would be VERY nice. Of course hardware IOP usually isn't as FAST as software on some benchmarks... although it has much less contention... so it would be GREAT anyway. Due to benchmark results most people wouldn't understand WHY it is better. The main benefits of hardware IOP are not something you can measure. EVEN BETTER would be if it came with hardware IOP that completely mimiced a normal drive so you wouldn't need any drivers.

    MY GUESS #2:
A NEW type of crossfire... compatible with the 4xxx video cards but using a completely different method that is going to WIPE OUT Nvidia. (Or even updates to crossfire that allow for power reduction.)

    MY GUESS #3:
Each SB750 comes with a built in single cup coffee maker.
    FX-8350, Powercolor ATI R9 290X LCS, OCZ Vertex 4, Crosshair V Forumula-Z, AMD Radeon DDR3-2133 2x8Gb, Corsair HX1000W, Thermaltake Xaser VI, Xonar D2X, Water Cooling 140.3

Some surprises are not always pleasant. The big secret is pushed out and that is all I can say. A coffee maker would be nice right now.

I think the main features will be the ACC (advanced phenom oc) and the sideport memory to boost the 3DMark numbers.

Much more interesting for me (as I'm looking for a good HTPC mainboard) is in the short article on page 25 of the german printed ct-mag from monday.

"more 3D performance (compared to 780G)"
    "Crossfire support"
    "sideport memory"
    "no hybrid power (like nvidia)"
    "ACC"
    "SB750: Raid 5"

but most important for me: "By chipset optimizations AMD said to have reduced the power consumption of 790GX boards compared to 780G."

Does the RS780D offer Hybrid CFX with all AMD cards now? So also with a HD 4870? Not to 'boost' performance, more thinking about powering it down when not needed like nVidia's 780a solution

Yeah i've been hoping for that feature as well. I could care less about Crossfire with an IGP. I'm sure it's not going to work well with a lot of games.

heat rises right ?.........so if they do test they will see that is pointless for ATX/BTX but not HTCP case. -_-

form SB to NB to PMW/VR. that works well, still why I like my MSI board too.

yea but they're showing the Intel 775 socket, the HS on the
790gx is different it does not go around, they got 2 boards
out at the same time, and mixed things up
Probably the same guy that right the manuals and
    spell checks the BIOS

Yeah, and I thought they wern't going to change sockets, shucks!!
At least the heat-pipe cools the "PWN" section....
    (the preciding was sarcasim, BTW.)

I do have a legit question for all you folks who've been following these boards closely though:

I'm probably going to be ordering one before I go to bed. It's very important to me that the board has Optical Audio Out, so that limits my choices to the Gigabyte or the Asus...

I had so many problems with the GBT DS5 that I had pretty much sworn off of Gigabyte products. That being said, the cooling solution on the GBT looks to be much better than the one on the Asus.

I also noticed that the GBT has an 8 pin AUX power plug, while the Asus only has a 4 pin Aux plug. I'm not a big fan of Multi-GPU settups, but I'm not sure how much the extra power effects CPU overclocks..

Do you guys think this could be a problem for the Asus board and OC'ing the CPU ?

I would not buy an AMD mobo right now, let the dust settle for a few days, otherwise you may be sorry you acted so fast.
I really want to see if the 750SB is really any better than what NVIDIA is offering.
I've wanted a new AMD mobo for months, I'm waiting a few more days.

I'm sure that would be the logical thing to do Flasker, and I may very well regret buying early... But, it's not that much money and I have a friend who has been eyeballing my GBT S2H (780G), so I'm sure I can re-coop a little bit of cash. Besides that for me the fun factor is worth it.

Here's a link for Asus's board (haven't been able to find anything on the GBT).
    http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us

I found the "Manual PDF" pretty interesting, I'm not sure about the GBT offering, but the Asus has DDR3/1333 side port memory.

Seems like I read that the GBT's sideport was DDR2/667 (I could be wrong)...
Either way, if it doesn't OC that well I'll have a new board for my HTPC and some fun testing my 9600BE and 9850BE on it..
