price difference is low.. 4870 is at about 200€ in germany, the 1gb is listed already at 225€.. so i think it could be worth it..

so there are 1gb 4870's sweet.

I'm disappointed in my phenom 9850 rotten 0812 week -_-

@ demonkey: mine does not want > 2,4ghz nb also, fine chip whatsoever as it does 3,2ghz stable under vista64 and i think it can do even more.. whats your max stable clock?

Well, added 3850.. 3DMark06 fails second test... I am going to run Phenom at 2.5ghz and see if it runs.. LOL.. you should here my system when 3dmark06 starts the first test my fans kick down and the LED's dim.. I have only next PSU down is a 300w and I do not have enough adapters for the cards...I will post my score at 2.5ghz Phenom and stock GPU settings...

Well, OK, Phenom all stock, 3870 stock, 3870 stock, 3850 stock, AOD shows only one PCI-e slot occupied..I guess this is normal since they are X-Fired??.. ANd this what I get when I run 3DMark06

Well both the 3850 and 3870 sold. I ordered 2 4850's.. I have a Gigabyte with SB750 coming and hope to turn a good number in both vantage and 3dmark...we'll see.. Right now I have one 3870..my score was like 2000 pints lower then when I had both 3870's...so I won't post it LOL...

It looks to me like you are running xp, crossfirex only works with vista. That would explain the lower score

Well Pooop... I never ran it on my vista load.. should tried it. well they are in a UPS hanger simewhere right now lol.. just one 3870 left to man the task till the 4850's arive.

i Know the CENTER is the same Hole patern and width/lenth..the rest of heatsink looks to have holes for screws in all the right places..


I am using a Swiftech/ MCW60 which is for 1900xt,,which also fits 2900XT 3800/4800 series Chillin on my 4850 ... Perfect fit

Ill have a mild Oc score coming soon.

SINGLE 4850 RESULTS........Little hard to OC lots of bugs with CCC. Quik bench run @700mhz ,, This thing scales exactly like its big brother even with DDR3

The way the new 4850/4870 scale and with the likes of 4870x2 ..

20K should be the New High to hit with 3.4- 3.5ghz Phenoms using 4870 and 4870x2 ..

Its funny how it takes some tweaking but with lower speeds than INTEL the AMD platforms just Play butter smooth compared to a Intel @ even 4ghz...


Speaking of tweaking,,

So after numerouse driver changes and disabling CCC overclocking and updating AMDGPU TOOL to work with out crashing and then renaming the DLL in 3dmark06 ( BlackscreenBug) im testing 800/1200 I can go Higher but the Drivers will act up with AMDGPUtool + CCC on my system ( Unless i FLASHING A BIOS.)


OK my final run , this card is going in my DADS first HTPC so i dont want to MAX it

8.7/8.7beta would not Oc worth beans on 4850 while using AMD GPU clocktool 9.8 and CCC,,Must have overclocking disabled in all CCC or it will set only max OC with a Sapphire 4850

P.S MAX ,, maybe look into 790FX with new 750chipset? AMD/ATI combo seems to clock better ATM than AMD/Nvidia...Seems the 4800's scale better even with borked drivers

Well, the CPU arrived few hours ago, this was my 2nd boot ever @3250, PCIe is @100, GPUs are @max stable with no artifacts, can't be increased much more.

I will see in a few days.
