Doesn't rivatuner show the clocks for each card in your system? And the temps btw, with a gx2 I would watch those temps even more closely ( idk ask Angra he has one but I didn't hear him about temps ).

Yes, but you can't use riva tuner without a monitor and keyboard/mouse.

No worries I'll eventually get around to installing VNC on it or something but all I had time to do so far was hook it up and get it crunching.

I use evga precisiontool for my gigabyte 8800gt's, it's so much easier than riva tuner... I have a copy if you want it http://scootplace.net/fah/EVGA_Preci...etup_1.1.1.exe

Thanks, I'll give it a try. My 9800gx2 is an EVGA so it might have come with it but I never opened the included CDs as I knew I would have to use the CUDA drivers anyways.

Most benchers ( aka xs normal folks :p ) already know RT, and it offers some more functions then Precission ( which is why it might be harder to use ) so I keeping recommending that.

    To each his own

Hey Big_deel nice to see another long time folder return to the land of the living

If you need any help with the new clients just ask we're trying to show this forum fah is far from being a dead subforum and all activity is good You could pm me, but I'm off to watch a movie with the missus so for a quick responce I would just look at the forums. Can I ask what clients you're trying to get running ( knowing I'll probably read the answer when you already have everything sorted out... then again maybe the movie will suck ( The onion movie... who knows lol ).

With all the gpu folding around, does anyone know about linux gpu folding? Is it planned or are they just going to ignore the linux community with beefy gpus?

p2501 there is a 3rd party tool which will allow you to run it on wine. They do plan on a Linux client eventually but that will be after the windows client is finalized ( priority is definetly on the windows client atm ).

http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.ph...&sd=a&start=75 the last post is a complete guide to get it running on Gentoo.

Maybe a mod could add the link in the config stickies?

It's a long thread, but it seems it was on par or almost with windows which using an emulator like wini ( edit = wine ) should be a feat on it's own. I'm sure a native Linux client would be quicker though. But for people wanting to run notfred's, this will be the addition they're waiting on for gpu2 folding.

Surely this is because they are looking to hook windows users on their idle time. However, us linux guys are waiting patiently...sort of....where's the damn client?..sorry

When it comes about, it will be a good thing since dedicated folders will be able to allocate resources towards gpu folding too. Not that windows folders aren't dedicated, but I hope you follow what I'm getting at. Ugh, beer time.

That would definitely be nice! Thanks Marv for the link, that's pretty impressive. Even though I don't like emulation, if it's running nearly on par with native Windows GPU client, then !

Sure is... it will keep me from being bored for the coming few minutes

Ppd wise, on your pentium d8xx and a gpu2 client, I wouldn't bother

The thread I linked you to makes it seem very uncertain you would be able to make the deadlines for the smp.

Well, the guy with fast RAM (I do have, Crucial Ballistix D9s @ DDR2 800 - 3-3-3-9) and a slight overclock made them no problem. I would make them pretty easy enough...

Know of a good step by step guide for installing FaH on 64 bit linux in vmware on Vista64 Ultimate? I tried this several months back but never got it working, didn't want to deal with disabling signed drivers in Vista64.

I never ran the linux smp client, not even in vmware. Thing is I'm really in this for the science and it's a proven fact them phd's like their wu's coming back ASAP. Running a vm will mean running two instances of the smp client for each two cores ( can't assign all four cores to the vm right? ) which will mean higher points but also introducing more lag into the system.

Anyone who thinks diffrently is entirely entiteld to their opinion, I know some people sometimes feel offended if I say it's not in the best intrest, but I try to suck up to them by admitting the point system is not that good at making clear where the real gains are to be found.

That being said, the idea for a guide is a real good one! If you're volenteering about going to try again, start a thread about it we'll all help you getting it runnig and in the end you can revise post 1 to be a guide reflecting everything we learned through the thread

I really am more asking people to do things then doing things myself, sorry don't want to come accros as trying to boss people around, but you people keep bringing up good idea's on which you're more qualified to work them out

I'm going to help everywhere I can though

I have a C2D T7100 in my laptop running @1.8ghz. I'm getting ~120ppd effective...does that sound normal? I have two clients running and the affinity changer.

Is there anything I could do to up my PPD (no OCing) or am I pretty much maxed?
