deathstar did you ever bench vantage or lack of vista ??

Couldn't get Vista Ultimate 64 bit to install before. It would get as far as two install screens then go black.

What I didn't know at that time was my 3870's blew 1280x1024 channel on my KVM doing 3Dmark06 run. (I think it was retaliation for USB of the KVM preventing Windows to do Restarts)

I was thinking about doing fresh install Win XP today, this one has been running two years and has had been used with 3 CPU's, 2 mobo's, half dozen video cards and a couple of virus/malware hacks.

Maybe I'll try Vista again now I got rid of the KVM

Even with water/ice I couldn't get out 3.2GHz range
Will have to wait for new board w/SB750

One more try, I just did fresh install of Win XP and 5 loads of laundry

KVM= keyboard, video and mouse switch
1 keyboard, 1 monitor and 1 mouse for multiply computers

As to your second question, I couldn't tell you why.
But I'm much happier running two 4870's then my 3870's

Isn't that a joke, the game I like the best is over 5 years olds and bearly strained the lowest graphics available at the time.

With the Slot Power Limit in the Bios running at 200w

hondaguys score is very high for those gpu and cpu clocks.. whats your secret ingredient?? and whatever, i do not understand (as postet before) why hondaguy and i can come so close to AMDDeathstar... But I think thats because that is 3dmark06... that cannot use the more power the 4870's have...

hehe thats those hardware enthusiasts... benchmark fetischism but running dead old games like counter strike or diabloII..

but i feel you.. newer games are not better... those old roleplayers were extremely well developed.. my favorite games are not much newer: dungeon siege 2, lineageII, titan quest (ok not as old as diablo )

OCZ Platinum @ 800 MHz / 4-4-4-15
Vista Ultimate 32-bit

Slight improvement over the last best run on Vista that I had, which was 14844 with GPU at 790 MHz, otherwise the same clocks.
