Wish I knew about this Monday when I bought my CO E8500.

I just got my new machine running quick an dirty using the Intel cooler since I was computer-less since Sunday night. Awesome rig so far. Haven't OC'ed yet.

I ran ORTHOS on the stock cooler default settings. It jumped to 55 C very quickly. Definitely need to install my TT "Super" Sonic Tower.

What about this thing's price? About $300? I would sell my E8400 and get one if it were $200, but I don't feel like wasting money for an extra 150MHz.

I can't say for this case, but when the e6750 was about to launch, shopblt's prices were pretty realistic with initial pricing. Hell, I think in the first week, it might have even sold for slightly more. can't recall for sure but I'm imagining so

Bah, I overclock using the price/performance ratio not the xtreme
So upgrading to e8500 is more for kicks for me due to having new hardware brings tweaks along the way.
E8500 is priceworthy at current drop.

After 10 years of pushing the voltage to the max, I have yet to see a CPU die due to overvoltage. Been running some chips at an insane 0.3-0.4 extra volts for like 2 years or so. Should I let you do the math, or should I do it myself?
I have nothing to say, if you really consider +0.4V "insane" volts for over 2 years old chips(65nm at best, probably 90nm, duh! ).

But yeah, look at solarfall, 0.7V overvoltage with 45nm. Theres a reason why people don't want to bench all the time with those volts.

    1.48vcore e8200 6 months and counting.

If there was an issue, we would have heard about it.
the few who really push vcore, are few and then there sint to much hassle with degrading.

I've put my e8400 under some 1,6v to get stability @ 4500mhz and it is just fine. At least it hasn't died yet. If I were to get a e8600 it would have to do 5ghz 24/7, or else I wouldn't bother changing.
    Are we there yet?

Can you guys tell me what I would have to clock an e8600 to in order for it to outgun my qx9650 at 4400 (in 3D06)?

No mate sorry , cant it be done ? Or what ? My qx is a bit lame imo and Im looking at a high clocking dual to play with . I might have a shot at the qx again with dice and see if it performs better.

well it would have to be clocked incredibly high I would imagine. A QX9650 at 4400mhz is going to churn out a lot of CPU points in 3dmark06....

See, that's why I feel mine is broke. Either way, after seeing a rare 8400 E0 faster than mine on EVERYTHING we tested if feel ripped off.j/k The E0 runs cooler, overclocks higher and to top all of that off, it is cheaper. I feel like mine is broke and needs to be replaced, now if Intel would, instead of me, it'd be great!

LOL. In 06, maybe 6.5ghz. In any video game, maybe 4399mhz. The e8600 is doing 6.8ghz now, so thats the WR i'm guessing. 7ghz soon. Watch Duck & Andre Yang!
