Sorry, but could I grab some help? Forget everything at the top *chuckles*.

Which is safer between the two fittings I listed? Compression or 7/16" on a 1/2" barb? (And could you explain more how compression works? It doesn't look like much of the tube even makes contact with the end of the compression bit before you screw the end on.)
