I'd really like to see what A B2 can do on A SB750 board since some of them can be had for under 100 bucks if you find the right person it'd be nice to see consistent 3.0ghz on them
i plan on getting a 790GX on release so i'll let you know it will be paired with a 9500

i already found SB700 clocks better than SB600 with it if it wasnt for the fact that im on onboard it went from ~2.84ghz MAX on sb600 to pretty close to 3ghz on SB700 but onboard VGA corrupts on my 780G over 255mhz HT

have you tried disabling the onboard VGA? a 9500 or 9600 BE that hits 3.3 would be GREAT value, so hopefully the SB750 will help you push it even further!

Im on same boat too.. looking At 790GX or a new FX..Its a toss up ATM

    Personal best,,
A week of testing my 9950 with Water(non chilled Alhambra )

I topped @ 1.59v 3553mhz//2100NB with the Mobo hating me temps are very good with this amount of Mhz and volts..The Mobos PWM's with heatsinks really hates it . With out blowing up the Mobo ill stop here seeing i already know what will happen if i go further....

Note: I keep it @ 3450//2660nb @1.56v and the Performance is the Same as if it were @ 3553//2100NB with same Ram Timing both settings ..For MID 22's not bad ( I did not Tweak Ram For Fastest Pi! I used Mobo Defaults @ 1066 with Max ram and manually set each timing to the (Auto )setting it showed....)

Due to HOT/PWM's i do not run @3553mhz 24/7 with out them going through the roof. Only reason i cant clock this chip Higher is the Mobo's big Vdroop and PWM's pushing a 9950 this high ATM.

    1.648v = 1.589v Vcore

i don't have a vga card ATM so onboard is my choice but i have 3 3850s on there way to me so i should be able to get it up there very soon esp considering my water loop is almost done

    little update:

i was runnign prime95 for 2 hours@3.2ghz 1.48v, idle was 32c, load went to 61c, all was good till I went and tried to load a game while prime was still running .....then 2 cores errored out. would you consider this a legit instability or was I just pushing it to hard running prime plus opening programs at the same time?? I think it would have kept going if I hadnt started to push the cpu even harder......opinions??

if not Ill start prime over again and see what happens but it was looking good till I started messing around.

I personally like to run 4xPrime95, Everests stability test, and AOD statiblity test AND THEN maybe run an HD Tach or something similar. (This will REALLY let you know how well a software RAID system works.)

ANYWAY: It should NOT error out. Ever. Any core.

Sure. If it fails... then something is not working correctly.

(Of course with that much stuff running you WILL thrash... but who cares... that just adds to the stress.)

As for less stress.. I find I can run 4xPrime95 and then play some games and actually not see too much of a difference in FPS. (Although that is dependent on CPU, chipset, and motherboard.)

Wath is the max OC you reach with windows vista 64 or xp64?
It's important to distinguish the OC with 32bit OS from the OC with 64bit OS with these cpus...

Has anyone tried the 9950 + SB700 or later on something like dice or vap? I wonder if the cold issue was 9850 related, general current K10s related, or chipset related.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.
