Sounds about right to me .
Sounds like your just waiting for Abit then now

Waiting for abit could set you back a generation or 3 the way things are going. I don't have any first hand knowledge of the biostar but the threads I've read here all seem quite positive. I bought a p45 for a cruncher but in the end with my choices being biostar and msi the neo3 won because of the budget factor.

    Universal abit lays-off more staff
As of the end of July 2008, most of the Research and Development team have been laid off, and between 3-4 people from almost every engineering department from Quality Control to Field Application Engineers too. Everyone from the previous PM team who designed the likes of the MAX and Fatal1ty series that many enthusiasts grew to love have all moved on over the last year. There doesn’t seem to be much left of what was once a prosperous and productive team well worth recognition. Some of those PM members went to Biostar, and others went to Foxconn

Firstly I want to say what a great forum this is and there really are some well informed people here. I have been surfing around trying to get to the bottom of the F5 bios fiasco and thankfully I found some great info here. Sorry to hear about all the boards that had to be RMA'd, I trashed a nokia phone once and it sure feels miserable.

I do have a question, I was going to update to the F5 bios because I have my computer dynamically overclocked and the standard DES doesn't work with it. DES advanced is meant to support overclocking but what I want to know is will it enabled my cores to load to 80% plus before the core speed increases? Because now it'll climb from 2Ghz to 3.8Ghz without actually loading all 4 cores.

    Thanks in advance.

sounds like you are really talking about "EIST" and "C1E?"...those two Intel features are the ones that roll back your power consumption and multi to conserve power while you are in an idle state...when you attempt to put a demand on the cores, the Mhz, vis-a-vis multiplier, will increase up to default to handle the demand...in order for 4 cores or 2 cores to all be engaged up to 80% or more, means the program has to be designed to engage all the cores simultaneously.

you can open "Task Manager" and click on the "Performance" tab, as you manipulate your program, to see how many cores are at work.

as to this forum, i think it is one of the best ones around!...WELCOME!

Firstly thanks for the reply. I did have it hard clocked through bios initially with my cpu going from 2Ghz to 4.2Ghz in one step then I started fiddling with gigabytes cpu intelligent accelerator feature which I think is great, because it overclocked gradually but was sadly percentage limited to around 20% even though real figures were around 25%. I managed around 3.7-3.8Ghz with that, which I didn't mind as it was a better way to use the computer from day to day.
I was perhaps thinking DES advanced would give me more loading before the core speed began to increase but that doesn't seem likely and that's why I thought about risking an F5 flash.
I am going to do some research to try and get my CAD program to utilise my cpu better, so thanks for the tip.

Good question, I am wondering the same thing myself, if you go back a few pages I think the USA site has a recent one. Check carefully, I know I will. Also is everyone using Qflash or is there something better now, I know people have been complaing about @bios.
