"...In the upcoming weeks watch for a report in Time Magazine that will attempt to smooth over the rough edges of a diabolical plot by Bell Canada and Telus, to begin charging per site fees on most Internet sites. The plan is to convert the Internet into a cable-like system, where customers sign up for specific web sites, and then pay to visit sites beyond a cutoff point...."

And they'll keep on pushing it, with fear-mongering excuses like "security" and "we gotta stop the turrrurrrists", the catch-all's they've used since 9/11 to take away our rights.

They're already spying on our e-mails, phone calls, and with every website you hit a record is kept by the US gov't. Ask AT&T and Verizon. Well don't bother, because they damned sure won't tell ya.

Of course you don't hear much about it from the corporate TV news, since their job is to keep you info-tained and misinformed (ie: lied to).

and as soon as any slight evidence is shown to prove that they knew and didnt tell you, then there would be a massive lawsuit against said companies, and they would owe thousands to all their customers, and the companies would perish. and what they do tell you i that they keep records of who you've called, who you've texted, what you've texted, etc etc etc. for a said period of time(not sure what it is, probably like 6 months to a year) and that if you are under criminal investigation, they will give any and all of that info to the authorities. otherwise, the gov. cant touch it.

if the presiding judge rules them innocent, or allowed to do so, you take it to supreme court, if they say the same, then alot of judges will lose their seat within 2 years. and the judges dont want that to happen.

Apparently you haven't been keeping up. I don't know about Canada, but in the US now the gov't doesn't have to show anything of the info they have on us, all blamed on the "War On Terror" and the need for greater "security".

Look at how they easily bypass FISA and the rest, and have gotten away with it. BTW - the Supreme Court has a majority (5) of right-wingers that surely would vote in favor of the telecoms and so-called "security".

old news? monthly quota has been around like forever. 250gb a month is not nearly the same as having to pay 2 dollars for every website you go on.

its a start though, i know that i go over that every month and comcast dosnt care (most use is off peak), but this lets them lower it little by little then u get bandwidth free to partners, then charged for going over and u have no more internet but interactive tv

If that happens, then the WHOLE world should DDoS Canada's ISP and completely destroy their service for extreme periods of time.

It could happen in Canada. The rest of the world won't follow when they see the billions of dollars of sabotage.

Umm, ask the million other countries with ISPs that have had monthly data quotas since the beginning of time.

What they really want is to be able to charge for the data transferred on both ends. An extra for sites that have lots of video, and I guarantee this will come to pass once HD movie downloads increase.
