Ok, all makes sense to me now as well ... 1200 did seem stupidly high.
Ya some of us try to melt the copper tubing together.
God I hate when I have my torch set up for 2 1/8+ pipe and forget to change it back inorder to do 1/4 or 3/8inch tubing.
Imagination is a powerful tool.
I put my copper in warm acid baths, that gets inside the block and cleans it up good. Remember to give it a good rinse and dry afterwards to get rid of the acid.

Yeah you can do that. I used phosphoric acid, im sure you can use sulphuric acid or hydrochloric acid. These will clean the copper quicker and get rid of the tough marks better than lemon juice (citric acid) as thats a weak acid like vinegar (acetic acid IIRC), as they are real acids![]()
What I normally do is get 2 containers, the first one big enought to hold your evap, then place this in the second container. Fill the second container with hot water and the first with acid. Pop the evap in the acid and let it clean. The hotter the acid the quicker the reaction, as a general rule the reaction rate doubles for every 10ºC temperature increase.

Bowman and Baker, are there plans anytime in the near future to provide complete evaporator assemblies?
This would include the block, cap tube, and suction hose, all completely assembled, cleaned, lapped, insulated, and pressure tested.
By the time a DIYer gets all of the equipment needed for this part of the operation, he is probably better off paying someone else to assemble it. Given a complete assembly, he can do the rest with a small torch.

as far as i know .you will be able to purchace a evaperator,hose,cap tube and insulated cover...complete and ready to go.
baker and I spoke yesterday in lenght about this.it is just a matter of working out the bugs in the last revision of covers to fitt the latest revision blocks.

I would also suggest over length cap tubes, with instructions on how many inches to cut off, according to the heat load and the refrigerant being used.
