BTW, if you search your event log you will find the error message. Unless you have installed IDCC or the older 6.4 drivers....

Now thinking about it, I installed IDCC the first time right away I think. THAT's why I never saw the message probably! Ah!!!

Well, that's it....as others have said Intel will hopefully update the BIOS and drivers soon to resolve some bugs and overclocking issues

    Power advise

I am currently running the following hardware on winxp 32 and winxp 64.

    Intel dx38bt motherboard
    Intel q9300 processor
    Visiontek hd 4870
    Ultra X-pro series 600watt psu, 36 amp 12v,
    4gb 4x1gb corsair 1066mhz ddr3
1 sata hd and 1 sata dvd burner

My problem is that once I have my system clocked up to 370-400 fsb, 7.5 multiplier, ram at 400mhz reference, timings at 9-9-9 27 1.7v, it all boots fine. runs real nice, but I have a restart problem, when it restarts the hd 4870 complains about power by flashing three leds on back of card. then just hangs . I need to hold power for 5 second then it reboots. I talked to Visiontek and they seem to think it is a power issue,(i failed to tell them i had a overclocked to system.) I have no problem buying a new ps but i wan't to be sure that it isn't the motherboard and how it restarts since I have seen this board do similar things with older bios. I am running the latest 1554 (i believe). Was previously running hd 3870 no problems. The card says it uses 369 watts at full load, so i think they would be right but, I trust the forum more than any fly by day tech.

    Thanks in advance,
    Pete

If you do a soft power off and on from the front panel, does it keep coming up OK?

Does it work OK if you not overclocked?

If you answered "yes" to both, then I think it's the MB/BIOS. Both of mine do the same thing.

FSB frequency or voltage? How are you measuring them? How much does it change?

CPU-Z (1.44) shows a 0.5 - 1.5 HZ drop and sometimes rise for Core Speed, similar for Rated FSB and Bus Speed

DRAM Freqency also shows falls and rises

Multiplier is fixed @ 10 but the same occurred when fixed @ default 9

Yep. That little of a change is generally a CPU-Z calculation variance rather than an actual change in the speed.

is there a trick to getting a USB keyboard to work while running a boot disk with this motherboard? i'm trying to flash the BIOS on my video cards and the stupid USB ports don't have power while i'm in DOS. i have no idea how to input anything. you'd think Intel would have thought of this when they eliminated all legacy connectors on the I/O panel. this was also an issue when i ran Memtest when i was setting up my OC.

I had no problems running memtest with a USB kb. Strange.

Is legacy USB enabled in BIOS?

Thats strange. I used a USB Drive bootdisk for DOS to flash my 4850, and my Saitek USB KB worked fine.

Thanks for the advice of CPU-Z calcs... now I'll stop behaving like a nervous mother hen

My mobo had decided to "lose" the keyboard when in BIOS once. I rebooted, went back into BIOS and the keyboard was working again

Do you have a hub between the keyboard and motherboard? If so, try direct connect.

I had problems with getting a USB keyboard working. It seemed like if I move the kb to different ports when power was off that it would work. If I left the computer on there was no problem, only had problems when rebooting. I keep my system on all the time now so I don't notice the problem anymore.

    Hey guys...im thinking about BT2 with Q9450 ( basic 8x400.. ) and this memory:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227339

about BT2..nothing complicated about this piece of cake overclock right?

2:3 DDR3-1500 or 1:2 DDR3-1600 is a problem on this MB? I am searching for a stable board ( as badaxe was ) and i like the looking of BT2 and price

I think the BT2 and that memory will be perfect. 1:2 DDR3-1600 should be a snap. IIRC Intel recommends using the BLACK slots on the MB for XMP memory.

This is my first time posting here. I am about to pull my hair out, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Now on to the problem. I am having trouble getting bios settings close enough to even post. I put in the 4gb of ocz extreme edition and no post after that with it on xmp porfile #1. I am running bios 1554 (just updated prior to memory upgrade) and havent messed with any settings other than memory. If anyone can give me a direction to take it would certainly save a bunch of hair that i dont have to spare. lol
