EVGA Hydro 16 Copper Waterblock Package

EVGA Hydro 16 Copper Waterblock Package
    What Comes In The Box

Hello Everyone. I know this may be a bit redundant, but I could not find everything I am about to post in one spot. The point of this post is to give full pics of the what comes in the mail when you order a Hydro 16 Waterblock from EVGA.

This is not a thread in which I will post my OC attempts on my SLI 280s. This is for those folks considering the Hydros v. waiting for Eddy and EK to get theirs with backplate out to market.

Here is the box that comes in a bigger box. BTW, these things are HEAVY!! (shown next to floppy drive for size)

    Now...On to the Good Stuff!!!!

These next few are taken in low light. The previous shots show the blocks a bit shinier than they really are due to the flash. I am going to be anal and clean the tarnish off a bit prior to installation. I truly doubt it has any effect on temps, but the computer gods must be appeased and tended well, or they will send bad things your way.

    Here is the backplate...

Here are some shots of the 1/2" fittings.

Here are the scanned images of the Packing List and also the Installation Manual. I really have to give hats off to EVGA on this. These are the highest quality docs I have seen included with WC equipment. Beautifully printed on good stock. Clear photos. Clear and common sense instructions. (Just to note, I did not find any Copyright mark on these manuals or materials, nor any suggestion that they could not be reproduced. Obviously they are EVGA material, but apologies to them if I have unknowingly infringed on anything.)

    The Installation Manual:

Well, that is it. On a humorous note, I did leave out one little component that EVGA did include...the latex gloves! I did not find them until after I shot the pics. Lol...maybe I will just save those until after I install the waterblock. After seeing my credit card bill, I feel like I need to turn my head and cough.

A couple of thoughts on this. These weigh a LOT. Everything I see about it speaks to excellent quality and workmanship. (Not just being a fanboi. I have EK's on my 8800 GTXs and know how well made those are.) I also must applaud them on including Ceramique with the blocks. Hopefully other manufacturers will follow suit and include quality TIM with their products.

One other thing I wanted to mention. On page 3 step 8 of the manual, it shows the need to put a washer on each of the 9 posts of the waterblock. It may help if you stick a toothpick in each hole temporarily while you position the card on the block, to keep the washers from falling off.

Hope this helps if anyone is considering these cards.

    Nice thread!
One thing I dont like from this is that it will still use 2 slots, otherwise, it would be a perfect block.

I know what you mean Slim. I have these in SLI and it kind of annoying that most of the slot space is covered. But, then I start thinking about what I would put in there, and cannot come up with much beyond use of 2 slots.

Well if you have a 790i, tri-SLI tempts you a lot. Also, the best sound card IMO is the Auzentech so there you have 4 slots in use.

Is true, SLI is probably more than enough specially waster cooled but again, is all about personal preferences after all.

I think the BFG H2C is the best option out there, even though I like eVGA more.

Thanks for the notice. Maybe, it will help me when I will remove the cooler to install my waterblock. It seems to be not easy on gtx280.

I have tri-sli EVGA GTX280 SSC's in my build and I'm afraid I went with Danger Den's Tieton simply because I needed a single PCI slot for my sound card.

I love EVGA's products and their support is the best in the industry. When nVidia precipitously dropped the prices of the GTX280's the volunteered a $125.00 cash-back or $150.00 "EVGA bucks" for each card you bought. They volunteered to me $375.00 cash-back on my three cards... That's one sure way to enhance your customer satisfaction.

Thats great, that way you can use your other slots. Even if you dont use them now, you have the option to do so in the future.

About the cash backs, BFG and XFX did that too so that should be no problem. I also love eVGA, but their step up is a joke (they never bring down the prices on their website). Only reason I buy their products is for warranty and support.

Looks nice for a block that I almost bought myself before going to D-Tek Fuzion GPU v2 because the EVGA blocks is OOS by the time I wanted to buy. The instructions is very very clear because D-Tek's instructions is a bit unclear and it's a b1tch to unassemble the stock cooling (especially the part about separating the two sides).

I thought briefly about it, but there are already the stock pics of the block with an acrylic faceplate instead of the Delrin. The main reason though is that if you remove EVGA tape from around the block, you void the warranty.

There is another post at legitreviews that shows the inside of the block. It verifies that the stock picture is correct.

    Here it is:

Couldn't you have used the top PCI-E 1X slot for the sound card ? CReative and Asus now put out high end PCI-E soundcards. The new Fatal1ty Titanium is great (and better than the Auzentech Prelude), as is the Asus Xonar.

I just got tired of waiting so I went with the DD blocks as well. I am pretty happy so far though. The EVGA blocks were my 1st choice as I knew it would be a while for the EK blocks but I waited about a month and EVGA just kept telling me they should be in stock within the next 2 weeks. I waited about a month then my impatince got the best of me so I ordered the DD blocks.

Hello all. I pulled a complete braincrash and did not post the 4th page of instructions. I have added that to the original post. It would be the last picture on the post. Kind of important, since it talks about the backplate!!!

No, three GTX280s is a monolithic shoebox-sized block that obscures all slots:

    AtlasShrugged,

I'm sorry. I don't mean to argue with you.

I was referring to the PCI-E 1X slot as outlined in red in the picture below.

The Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Titanium PCI-E sound card fits there, as does the Asus Xonar. Both are high end sound cards, especially the new Creative model.

As you can seel below, Tri-SLI takes up only six slots, as outlined in blue.

Yes, I hear you loud and clear.

I still don't know whether that cover is a silly plastic bling cover... does it even serve any function? Or is that some sort of metal heatsink, thus making it dangerous lol

Think it might be shielding like most of the professional cards have, but it very well may just be for looks.

You might try posting that question on the EVGA forum. I know jAkUp posted on this thread, and he works for EVGA. Of course, if the EK block comes out with the backplate, I am betting that would be a very nice alternative, given the quality of their other blocks.
