Thanks. Vid cards comparisions are so important these days with so much available and in so many overlapping price brackers (with SLi and CF).

    Thanks for a solid review.

Nice comparison Achill3us, hope you can prove tweaktown wrong with our humble p45 chipset... though 3dmarks there were basically the same there yet games differed big time....
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

i dont know about anyone else but those MASSIVE differences in scores are really making want to go buy some crossfire, and bigger power supply and xfire board with 16x16x lanes,,, oh yeah... i'm all over that.

if those scores are legit,, and the tests were done correctly then 4870 xfire isnt worth the money... and once again we are faced another truth that we should be seeing ANY xfire setup or SLI setup just crush a single card scenerio when in fact it is not happening.

3dmark 03 is the only thing that really showed any type true single vs dual card advantage..
the others show a negligable difference that when weighed out against the cost of xfire board, 2nd card, big enough psu,, well.... that single GTX looks pretty damn sweet.

but OBR you are correct, screw the benches, let's see some flippin game scores, cuz thats where it really counts.

OBR & Lestat you're right, we need game benches to get know the real performance differences... BUT this is XS, a lot of guys "playing" with 3Dmarks, btw take a look, a lot of hw forums testing only games, i dont care about them so much so if you are looking for a card for 6-700$ you have this 2 choice, single GTX or CF, and like Lestat said except 03, there is not so big difference in marks, for one GPU i think its really impressive...
looking fwd to see your chipset compare test OBR

I somehow Agree with ORB [ maybe because nationality similarity ? ]

The thing i don't like is Comparing 2x4870 vs one core 280 because they cost the same...
The heck ? It's like apples and pineapples , both are fruit but they're different.

And i sold my CF 4870 solutin ang got one 280 because the ATI driver support drove me mad, 8.7 beta core driver was 8.52 , Final 8.7 core driver 8.51 ... like what ?
And 4870 CF is 30% More expensive here than one 280GTX

And as I see from the ORB's review two completley different cards similar results.
    Game creators lazyness.

There are games where ATI creams nVIDIA, then there are games where is the oppostie. So the games are nearly the same [ come on if I play with 120 FPS or 135 will i see the difference ? No ... Tbh i wouldn't care if all cards had 60 FPS on all resolutions ] The only difference that's noticeable is the 3D Mark that Xtreme Systems members love, but that's not reality... I'm kinda getting more and more confuser in this swirl of Cards.

Nvidia has now raw power , ATI technology , 2 different approaches ... similar ending.

Yes both Cards are amazing if the price is the issue then proppably ATI because the performace is same or little different and the price is lower but there are still people that would preffer nVidia because of no particular reason [ drivers maybe those from ATI suck hard and deep ] People without much budged would go and buy 4850, the richer [ working ] part of the population would go and buy 4870 if they don't mid the heating problems, and there is a part of population that will buy 280 GTX because it is the strongest 1 core solution and they don't give a damn what's the price. So everyone that knows a bit more about those cards will buy what he want's and that who doesn't know will ask and will buy the card the majority votes.

So it seems the 4870's perform as advertised. The R700 drivers for them haven't even been released yet have they?
