Gregus, it's not compatable. But u can buy an attachment that is.

Alternatively, u could file the waterblock mounting plate until it fitted around the mosfet radiator. That is what I did. It's hard work though. Good luck.

Thanks to Movieman & [ctx] Raptor 22 for your help.

    simri,
Have any of these bios cross flashes yielded any decent results or is the original bios the way to go with the Maximus Extreme?

hi guys just wanted to post my bios results and setting for my E8500 on my maximus extreme, for some reason my board will no longer post with 4gb of ram it hangs on "DET DRAM" and every stick works alone and 3GB will work, but 4GB is a no go. batch# is Q740A518 for my E8500. the bios revision is 1004

Well for those of you that have this board and a Q9450 and having terrible OC results like I was for months, I decided to try some things again , so I popped out my G0 stepping and put the Q9450 in again for some messing around.

I decided to try a new approach, I have never had any luck with this board and q9450 untill now .

400 fsb ratio divider system wont boot into windows .
333 system boots into windows and freezes.
266 system boots into windows and works for a few minutes then freezes.
200 divider system boots into windows and runs bench 10 x loop 3dmarks 06 successful, bench 3D Marks Vantage on extreme settings x 4 times successful, play Age of Conan on High settings MSAA X4, for 2 hours nps.

To me the trick was the 200 FSB ratio divider, it is allso giVen me better Badwidth using this divider in Everest well at least better Write and Copy badwidth than I have had with any divider using my G0 stepping.

My settings are FSB 450, Multi 8X Loadline calibration on, all voltages are on Auto except for my Vcore, it is set at 3.875 in the bios, My ram speed is 1800 mhz.

Anyway good luck, I just wanted to share my success.

With this default settings i try to rise fsb and surprised sistem boot @400fsb and even @450fsb (but not stable some programs like nvidia driver , bitdefender 2008 , logitech driver worked bad)

I try test more at 425 , the probrams worked fine at start-up pc , but in 3dmark2006 textures were wrong

So go lower @400fsb (here all worked fine but after 1 hour maibe 2 i get blue screens , i even get blue screens @ 333fsb but rare)

    So i continued test @400fsb , i use higher voltages :

-Cpu voltage 1.24375v ( with default and i got blue screen after 1 hour temp@71*c , and then 1.35v but again cpu freezed after about 15 min , temperatures rised to 77*c)
    -cpu ppl voltage = 1.60v
    -north bridge voltage= 1.40v
    -ddram voltage = 1.84v
    -Fsb termination voltage= 1.40v
    -south bridge = 1.100v

I tought maibe is a ddram problem so i lower DDram from 1333 to 1.066 and again rise fsb to 400-410 , same result blue screen

    so now im stuck again,
i go try with the 200 FSB ratio now
i posted the other setting in my bios , i tought it might be from them , maibe i got one wrong PLZ if someone can confirm them are wright

    Maximus With 3 x GPU

Have anyone tested the maximus with all pci-e slots filled?

I´m thinking of going for 3 x 3850 or 3 x 3870 just becuse I can =). I´ve read several reviews were its stated that the third card wont do much of a difference, but maybe the maximus can make better use of them?

They are selling 3870:s with 850 mhz core for as low as 130 usd here in sweden at the moment. Ever since I got my maximus extreme I´ve seen a inner picture of three 3800:s crossfired there in the case, and with these prices I almost can afford it. I´m sure alot of you gonna say, Get a 4850 insted or get a 4870 , but anyway have any one tried 3x3800 with this mobo?

Mose cases dont allows for the exaust fan on a GPU in the 3rd slot, you better check if yours does.

Yeh, I know. Probobly gonna have to buy a single slot card and get some nice airflow around it. I got about 10 x 120 mm fans in my case so I got plenty of airflow

Maybe, I will go for 3 x single slot 3850:s, If I get the cheapest I can find i´ll end up at 100 USD per card. i´m so damn curiouse about tweaking a system like that. If the performance doesnt improve from 2 -3 card I can always put the third card on ebay.

    Tri-Fire 3870

I've tried three with several drivers(8.4,8.5 and 8.6). The third gives a small boost in 3d 06 mark(23000 /w Q6600 @3.9GHz) but causes stuttering in all games I've tried. I'm back with two 3870's(22000 3d06) and happier now.

Thats was both good and bad news. Of course its cheaper with two cards, hope that ati will fix the tripple crossfire problem soon., would be very cool to get some gaming performace from the third card too

Thanks very much for your reply!

I´will settle with two cards for now, maybe i´ll get a third later, will post my results here in that case

I would take a guess and say its more board related than anything else, 16 x 8x8 doesnt sound like a good combo to me, but AMD boards are another beast and more geared towards triple and quad crossfire, shame there Cpus are lacking in the performance realm for the moment.

    Tri-fire ati

fng77... with reference to the notion that you may still be interested in the tri-fire set up.. I would wait for great evidence that the arrangement will work (3850,3870,4850 or 4870) because I was the point man for this experiment and my only recourse was to use my spare card in a back-up/family system. This was not such a bad thing. Just the best choice.

I am wondering if there are any hidden dividers / ratios in the bios, is any bios guru able to unlocdk any or see if there are some?

I am noticing some very strange behavior with the dividers, the memory seems to run best way below spec , 16-10 and 12-10 seem to be the best ratios but this makes the memory run way under rated speeds. my memory is @ 1314mhz atm and its rated @ 1866 but this divider seems to give the best results in everest read and writes and latency.

If those are default voltages why does the bios report 1.42v on the northbridge when set to auto? Is this board just overvolting the crap out of the NB on it's own?
