Well, I'm setting up my new watercooling Wednesday-Thursday so I thought what the heck why not do this on a new motherboard. I went ahead and ordered the Maximus II Formula and should be getting it tomorrow. I'll still be running my P5Q-D but it'll get paired with my old x6800 and become my 24 hour cruncher. Hopefully I wont run into any problems with the new board especially since I really enjoyed playing around with this one.

Well I've flashed 1102 for the Deluxe and started Folding, so any instabilities should become apparant quite quickly.

Damn I'm making reverse progress here. I'm just looking for 3.8Ghz on my e8400 and p95 is crashing. I'm at 445 x 8.5 with 1.3625 5:4 CL-5 ratio etc. (DRAM 2.02, PPL 1.58, VVT 1,58, NB 1.28). Anyways, I think it's my 0605 BIOS, so what's the best, STABLE version to upgrade to? Thanks

I hope that's not FSB Term voltage at 1.58, for my liking pretty high values there all around....and prolly the cause of ya instabilities... more voltage is not always better with 45nm

I made the stepup from P5K Dlx to P5Q dlx... boards are in the same league regarding stability but P45 allows you to tweak ya OC more... though it takes some time to get used to all the settings... P45 allows for way higher FSB, think ya total OC will not be better or so (that's CPU limited) but it's prolly more futureproof...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Leeghoofd i will try today the settings that you showed me
I need 1.45v in my e6750 to reach 3.8ghz ..
This tension is very high to use in this cpu?
What is the maximum voltage to use 24 / 7, with temperatures below 65 degrees?
I'm using now 1.42v @ 3.6ghz

Anyone running an 8800GS in their Deluxe?

Picked one up today and I can't get it to work in mine. Works fine in my IP35 Pro rig.

hm...with the new 1103 on P5Q-D, there's a new setting call, CPU Margin Management, what's it for? There's 3 settings, optimized, performance and compatible

Are those BIOS 100% reliable? I mean, safe for installing and not "leaked" as the 0901? ... i've been watching the forum of xfastest and as long as i saw, sxs112 has posted the "true" revisions that we were using along these weeks ... so any problem installing them? are they working well?

Thanks in advance

P5K vs P5Q

I had the P5K-Premium and upgrdaded so here's my Pros / Cons:

PROS:
-P5Q has expressgate
-P5Q can do 575+ FSB for me
-P5Q has better heatsinks (including the backplates for the VRMS)
-P5Q has more BIOS overclocking options

CONS:
-P5Q has lower PL levels

Really it was a wash for me other than having the latest board, I can say though that I like this board more than I like my old Maximus Formula - mostly cause I can run my Kingston HyperX 1066 @ 1066 on the P5* series and it runs a hell of a lot cooler and lower volts.

Otherwise the boards are identical to me

Hiya guys,

RealTemp is 36 idle and 60 load

CPU-Z Core Voltage moves between 1.296 and 1.304 under load and is 1.328 idle

BIOS 0803

CPU-Z VID = 1.225

Thought I had 4Ghz stable once before in previous post but was not, did not run Prime95 long enough

Just can NOT get this beast stable at 4Ghz!

I have tried various combinations of non-auto settings and I do know this board overvolts

System seemed to hate 9.0 x 445 and 8.5 x 475 on 0704, not tried em yet on 0803

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

That's really odd. How can you measure it on load?

Anyways.
How can 1.5 become 1.57 (0.07 error)
But 1.52 -> 1.52-53 (error 0-0.01) ?

If you didn't make any typos setting PLL to higher value would actually mean lower value :s

Then again I can't see why setting those values to default values manually on bios would make any harm. Auto setting would set same values (or even higher because of OC). But it's good to know if I try higher OC later

S.O.S.

After one week in 3,6 for Q6600 now mobo boots only with default settings .

It boots normally but when windows blue bar appears freeze for one sec and after restart.
I hear some noise at the boot time (klik- klik DVD-ROM is disconnected)

Is my HDD dead??
Unlucky the western digital check disk utility runs only in 32 bit win I have XP-64

Which Volt setting is related with SATA HDD's ?
How U set multi 7,5??

Change ram from 1066 axeram to muskin 800 , the same
Machine boot only at 2,4

Anyways.
How can 1.5 become 1.57 (0.07 error)
But 1.52 -> 1.52-53 (error 0-0.01) ?

If you didn't make any typos setting PLL to higher value would actually mean lower value :s

Then again I can't see why setting those values to default values manually on bios would make any harm. Auto setting would set same values (or even higher because of OC). But it's good to know if I try higher OC later
Plz look in post 590 for NB steps - post 920 for readouts via a digital multimeter...

and here's the comparison jVIDIA made : pretty impressive eg 1.5 PLL that is in reality 1.8 (will harm ya CPU for sure) and these reading have been confirmed by other users too... so eg better set a value yourself then let the bios determine it... I think Asus did this for allowing the mobo to post at all times but running these voltages 24/7 can be lethal....

Done at 8 X 450

I hear some noise at the boot time (klik- klik DVD-ROM is disconnected)

Is my HDD dead??
Unlucky the western digital check disk utility runs only in 32 bit win I have XP-64
Which Volt setting is related with SATA HDD's ?
How U set multi 7,5??

Clicking noise from the HD's is an indication that's it's dying ... I had it with one Samsung and a Fujitsu drive... start the pc and go straight into bios if it starts to click then ( just spinning not laoding anything) you can bet it's a dead HD soon...

With ya Q6600 you cannot set half multies mate

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

And as I've already written few times I set them manually

EDIT: but wtf. So setting it manually to "normal" value still gives too high number. Feels like buggy bios to me... Looks like I have to set it bit higher to get lower numbers then lol...

EDIT2: Thanks for the info. Pumbed voltages bit over normal voltage and feel much safer now. It still doesn't make any sense why it behaves same way as AUTO if you set it manually to default value.

When you say to test them, by what method do you mean? Should I check them one at a time with memtest or should I just try to run the blend test with one stick at a time? I ran a few passes at 1.92 last night and all was good but I don't know the best way to check them one at a time. Also I was banging my head against the wall at 1.3125 and after running overnight I saw that my CPU failed after 5 hours on small FFT's. So I had to bump up to 1.31875 which is only one notch below what I had 18hour stable with loadline enabled. So far it has passed but for only 4hours. If it passes 18hours then I know my vcore is good and it is a matter of finding which stick of memory is bad.
