very good job thanks for posting your detailed settings in the first post - I just recieved my TP45 and was stuck ~500 FSB. your settings:
CPU Clock Skew Control : 200ps
    (G)MCH Clock Skew Control : 100ps
did the trick for me I have the feeling - any idea what these two settings actually do?
I am just pretesting FSB with my E6850 and then getting some dice in the afternoon for my E8400

you have to thank Newbeetle, Pt1t and youngpro for a lot of tweaking work as well

i lot of hours of messing with this bios and sharing ideas has gotten us to this

find a 45nm chip and go nuts

clocks skews is not something i know much about so i won't pretend but i know that first time i've seen skews do any difference was with Gigabyte X48T boards really and now these............all other times skews would give me nothing but trouble and some corruptions as well

i know one thing..........as we get CPUs made on smaller production process tweaking volts and signalling will be an integral part of overclocking............it's no longer just a matter of shoving volts and seeing it fly

i'd love to know what ppl like Oscar Wu have to say about this topic......as i've been doing my head in trying to make use of this sort of parameters and i guess through i laziness and lack of understanding and lack of options in bioses, i have not been able to take advantage of them....

currently biostar seems to have hit the nail on the head and put together some boards which address something we've needed badly for a while........FSB OCing with performance intact

it was actually really interesting learning from these engineers what a direct relationship between certain volts does to OCing FSB in particular........i'd love to have direct contact to pick their brains...........

yes all these new options seem to be an important part to really hit the sweet spot now. I am just learning with my TP45 now and hit another wall ~540...with PLL which wasn't needed before on any board (DS3P, DS4, Mars) I now got it stable. something seems to be a bit different with the biostar board but until now I like it. I also think volts will not be the most important in the future - all thoose gtl and skew things will be the options to play with.
think I will have to search for a better bios as well and kick in the E8400 then to have some fun

    here is another update

32M SuperPi at 5826MHz....had a couple of runs stop at 584x and 585x so i gave up

also my hard drive must be screwed up as i am not happy with my efficiency but results are not too bad i guess

    also here is a 6GHz 1M
    absolutely hideous PP hehehehe

i am FSB limited by this board
this CPU has a lot more to give
with the right board...i would be expecting at least 5.9GHz 2D/3D
Josh is going to have a lot of fun with this CPU
it handles -150C plus no problems lol

    my OS is screwed
i was on a run which would be been there but at 5850

i've done all i could for now and i've gotta send all this gear over to Josh who will be the new lucky owner and torturer heheheh

this is THE best CPU i have ever had
too bad the timing is so aweful with new technology around the corner.......this happened to me last time round as well.........i had one of arguably the best 65nm CPUs (E6700) which benchmarked 5.5GHz 3D..........absolutely unbelieveable chip that was and now this one........but fast forward a few months and we start all over again with Nehalem heheheh

[edit] here is one run which was the slower of the two......would have been faster than james' time on the second run but i need that FSB stability and cleaner OS heh (second run was about 0.8s faster on 5th loop) grrrr

575 FSB 32m worst performance/mhz you'll ever see on that board

SOF, did you try running a multi of 7 instead of 8?

With the 4 E8500 I tried, 7 worked best for max FSB and still couldn't get past 600 MHz FSB, haha

There should be a new Dualcore out soon

it seems to like some juice - Vnb and Vfsb +0.4 now - until 520 +0.2 seemed to be the best.
also back to manual timings, trtp 6, trd_wr 9, and pl 10 gave a nice boost ^^ maybe the ram does not that well on the board, even it did >600 4.4.4 before on p35.
spent 10kg dice for testing this and that today, just heating the last dice in the pot away. a little bit left for tomorrow

@fr3ak 7 and 8 the same until now but a little ram testing on 7x left for tomorrow

    €: 585 FSB 32m "screwed"

last update i did recently before shipping off all the gear to moloko

i was able to do slightly higher clocks with CPU Skew 200 and MCH Skew 300 but for some odd reason this could sometimes even bomb out in idle so use with caution lol
