Im going to run some benches on mine tonight, I just picked up a 4850 with another vf1000 of a friend because he impulse bought a 4870 tonight and sold me his card for 75 dollars w/ the vf1000 on the spot, how can I say no to that :-) So now Im running 2 x Visiontek 4850 w/ VF1000's.

3.1ghz took 1.33v (it got to the loading screen then rebooted at stock volts so it warranted the increase to 1.33v
3.2ghz taking 1.36v (it loaded into windows at 1.33v but locked up during 3dm06 warranting an increase)

heres super pi 16m( I run this just to see if I will error out and it hasnt)

Where can I host better pics they are to small here??

load temps are 44c idle is 31c
for every 100mhz I get 200 point increse in 3dm06.

and a thermalright SI-128 SE with 120mm fan doing 125cfm

From this picture can you tell if the mosfets are cooled by that HS on my mobo?? I think they are covered.........also is there a program to see how much voltage your system or even different components use??

take off that sticker on the north bridge, I did mine go like 5C cooler. I have fans over both of them 60mm over the mosfets 51C went down to 30C. & 50mm over 42C down to 30C too. they're NB zip tied on to them.

get your North bridge up with core speeds.

Then well see something great about the 9950.

not all chips clock the same. some are great clockers other are crap like mine lol

    +1 CD....,, Nice Oc Titan7171

    Play with the NB...
My buggered 9600BE only does 2600mhz on the NB before it slows down the L3 and latency ,,instead of improving it!

I believe the 9850/9950 is the F3 of all things for Phenom. 45nm is where this game will be made thats for shure.

ok I need some help with voltages

when ocing the nb how high can I go on voltage for lets say 2.4ghz?

when would I need to up the hypertransport voltage? what do I need to overclock to warrant more voltage on it?

Picked up a better heatsink today - Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme and it made a huge difference on cpu temps, I was loading at 51C with my Zalman 9500, finally time to put my old hsf to rest :-(

Im loading at 38c in the hot summer with this heatsink, I plan on overclocking some later.

The compression fittings i'm waiting for will should be here tomorrow, so we'll see what this chip can do cooled by an XSPC Edge and PA120.3. :P

(although, like many others, I dont think anyones gonna be getting the most out of it till enthusiast SB750 boards are out)

Sure it is. They all are. Just take a close look. Here is the transistor layout:

Notice that the top most row is shifted to the right. The right most transistor is fully exposed on that row.

Here is the heat pad's impression pattern. Notice that only the center column is even fully covered:

The heatsink for the PWMs isn't even wide enough to cover the transistors if it wanted to.

Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.
