Granted I can't quite confirm it's at 1.2 seeing as how my dmm needs a new battery, but I do notice that I can clock slightly higher and the temps correlate.

Right now it's running said demo at 714/1000 and finally seems stable. Fan is at 70% with the core temp at ~72c.

I don't see it being worth it at this point. Maybe I got a moot clocking card. Unless I'm drastically overlooking something here. The card is a Sapphire, if it means anything.
Yeah, I have flashed and re-flashed with different voltages and my Visiontek 4850 seems to top out around 700 anyway so I just use CCC Overdrive and keep it at 700/1133, Oh, I did flash to the Asus BIOS that was floating around early on and the auto fan speed control with SmartDoctor workls nice... 1.16v, 700MHz is it for me... done tweaking for now until I get an aftermarket cooler....

i have the same problem. but i fix it it seems that the second card is not really available for this tool after a fresh reboot.

    my solution:

After fresh reboot i run a short 3dmark scene. 3dmark03 nature is good for 5 seconds.
then the oc tool work and let me oc the second card

i don´t know why the second card is not avaiable after a fresh reboot. any idea for this??

    Windows XP SP2

Has anyone had a problem with FurMark and the 4870 cards w/hotfix 4800 series drivers?

I have my Sapphire WC with a MAZE 5 and RAM sinks. GPUZ claims my overall GPU temp is 36c @ idle with sensor temps of 36/70/36.

Can anyone confirm where GPU#2 is located?

    I mounted a Accelero S1 Rev2 on my Sapphire HD 4850 with a 120mm 500RPM fan on it.
Idle temps are 50° and load temps are 70°-80°.
Somehow I can't get higher than 650MHz. Memory clock is at 1100Mhz. Everything beyond 650 core clock results in artifacts.

Why are you guys are all able to get that much better overclocking results?

Oh and what is temperatur #2 and #3 in GPU-Z?

I think your accelero isn't on there correctly... specially if a vf700 dropped temps noticeably.

    Seconded.

Also, this has never crossed my mind before but does a squealing card indicate eventual hardware failure? Now that I think about it, every video card I ever had that wouldn't overclock for crap or gave me great difficulty would squeal under high load after the voltages were turned up. Last night while I was running rthdribl, You could basically hear how much load the card was under by listening to whatever it was squealing.

The few cards I did have that clocked like champs never uttered a peep.

No problems in furmark, running a 4870 at 840/1100 with the stock cooler and stock volts.

@ halo, are you running different drivers? Vista x64? It's the only benchmark it can not get through. Games wise, have only tried COD4, but 2+ hours no issue at stock.

Welp, my Sapphire 4870 just died. It was behaving very oddly from the beginning. Hopefully the RMA doesnt take too long.

2 of the last 4 video cards I have owned in the past year have been RMA'd. What's going on these days?

that S1 isn't mounted correctly - i never see over 45c loaded on a single card and about 33c idle overclocked to 800 on core and 1.3v.
