ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA black pcie slot

I just ordered a Xonar D2X, I have an ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA MB, The black pcie slot is reserved for the Supreme FX II sound card, can I put the Xonar D2X in there.
Or would it be better to use the last PCIE slot to keep it away from my GeForce GTX 260.
    Thanks

use another PCIe. I think you got no choice actually as IIRC Asus has voluntarily inverted the slot for the sound card that comes with the mobo to prevent users from running it on competitors' mobos

I am running my Creative Fatality PCIe in the black slot with no problems.

It will work fine, however you will lose use of the first DIMM slot closest to the CPU socket, and you will have to bend the power plug out of the way as well.

Just be sure that if you use this slot you have "onboard audio" enabled in bios.

Psssst............there is no "onboard audio" function anywhere in this board's BIOS settings. Just an FYI....
