Tool works like a charm but it seems to override the "fan fix" i8n the CCC file. Fan is back to 24% and 81c idle temps @ 800 core - 1100 memory. I tried raising the an speed, changing profiles, nothing will change the fan speed now.

It should. describe the problem. if it says something like "failed to set clocks" then ignore it and click check clockspeed tab you will see it worked. the 3800's all did that.

Nice find indeed. Only problem is that my cad freezes due to lower fan rotation. Would a stock bios with a modified fan ramp do the trick? Or maybe the flashing one with the lookup table enabled for the fan speeds in the bios. Gonna try that l8r

with 4850's if you go past 700 do you still have to kill overdrive using this OC tool?

Very useful tool for determining max OC, but I still prefer the BIOS flash to get different 2D/3D clocks. Excellent nonetheless. Thanks!

So what are the max OC numbers in stock voltage and cooling for the 4870?

You can get past 800MHz easily without voltmodding?
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

I have gotten 850, that seems to be the most on stock voltage, and it is plenty fast at those speeds.

Wow, 850 is very good. Is it totally stable, and how about temps/cooling ?

I got 840-850 too on my 4870 that's most likely the core limit without changing the voltage I put the mem at 1075 since ati auto tune got 1090 to be safe. It would be nice to have 900-1000 core with alittle volt bump. Then 280GTX can say bye bye

The tool works fine on my computer with Vista64 but I also have the fan override problem. The AMD tool causes me to lose my fan profile back to stock profile. Is there a workaround for this or is this a V64 problem?

Is there a way to get the overclock to save? So I don't have to set it every time.

W1zzard can you explain a problem I am having? Notice in the pic that I now have 3 different displayed speeds. In CCC I have the right clocks of 750/900. But CCC also shows 500/900 below. And then GPU-z has gone bonkers. This is after using the AMD tool for a bit. I didn't show it but it also says 750/900. Something may need to be reinstalled but I don't know what.

The 500/900 in CCC is your 2d clocks, run a 3d app and it will jump up to what you have it set to (750 in this case). Your GPU-Z has simply gone bonkers.

I figured that part out, been away from ATI too long I guess. I ran across another post describing it so I did as you said and I now see. So, should I just re-download GPU-z again or does it have a cahe file to clear?
