This option affects FSB signal, and it's here due to... Intel recommendation.
Basically it affects OC margin for upcoming, cheapo Q8200. It _may_ enhance a little typical Yorkfields as well.

Performance mode does not change anything, Compatible - yes it does - Optimized - depends on CPU uCode.

@Voltages... I prefer measuring them on the caps, so back side is where I like them
I'd rather not tell ppl to measure their voltages on Mosfets or SMDs due to ( 1) Need True RMS DMMs for "accurate" readings ) [ 2) SMDs for the danger of short-circuiting something ]

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it helped me gain some FSB with the E8500 when I switched it to "Performance Mode".

maybe my voltage is too high? i've been trying 1.8-1.9v for 7-7-7-20.

is there any way to change the command rate yet?

i cant get the ram to run over 1550mhz though.

EDIT: my ram can do 2146mhz stable for me on my p5k3 dlx and my e8500 has done 5ghz on water and 5.62ghz on TEC.

    fitseries3 ... flash to 0904

Benchzoner, no idea, Asus will never tell I bet, we will have to look at registers.

Sharing settings with DDR3 i have found to be a waste of time, to many chipset variables for it to be a sure way of gettting a stable system using close to the same hardware, chipset and ram ic's are never the same, they always need something different.

Also for those using some of the newer OCZ 1800 rated dimms, some are a slightly lower bin samsung which does do a lot better with CAS9, so if you are having issues with 1800 and CAS8, move to CAS9 and try again, you can usually climb up the fsb again.
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?

tried 0904 and 1600mhz will post but BSOD on bootup everytime. tried different timings, voltages(1.8v to 2.1v), different straps and still nothing. same crap. what now? this is crap that i have to underclock my $300 ram when i know it's capable of 2100mhz+ easy.

EDIT: oh great..... now it's flashed itself back to 0507.

    Here's what I've been told:

The Compatible mode is for Q-spec processors and the Performance mode is for the non Q-spec processors. If you leave the option to Optimized, the BIOS will select the best option for you.
I have a feeling that this has got to do with GTL ( CPU & NB ) enhancements for the "Auto" options.

    interesting Super Pi screenies

Does the 1M test not use the ram???

my slower setup at the same CPU clocks had the same results if not slightly faster using DDR2 and lower FSB
