    Asus P5Q Deluxe mods

    Hi!
Haven't found any P5Q mods yet.
I'll get my Deluxe tomorrow and do some macros and datasheet searches

Or if someone has something interesting, don't be shy to post

Apart from a Vdroop mod ( vdroop ain't that bad on those however ), there's no need to mod them for NB / Vcore.
There's a jumper set on the top right corner of the board called OV_NB and OV_CPU.
Place the jumpers on pins 1 & 2 and you'll have a wider ( extreme actually.... and sometimes deadly ) voltage range available in BIOS

just got a p5q dlx for my bro, got a question:

does it actually give the voltages that are set in bios?
i mean, the p5k mobos wouldn't set the lowest values set in bios above a certain fsb, for example, @ 500mhz fsb my p5k gives 1.74v pll no matter what i choose in bios, same with vmch (1.25v in bios results in 1.55v real), vtt, etc
(that's with bios newer than 0803)

any link with read points for the p5q?

As far as I remember, the NorthBridge ( MCH ) and FSB Termination Voltage ( VTT ) are "tied" together on some motherboards due to circuit design.
As for the voltages, you can't be sure unless you check them yourself with a multimeter.
Some boards overvolt a bit, others droop a bit.

thanx for your answer, i'll check it out about the 'tied' vmch and vtt
any links with read points to measure?

I haven't checked the board, but as far as I can tell from Asus's website thumbnails ( he he ) they're using the same power circuitry design with the P5Q3 Deluxe, so you can use the measurement points from my picture in the P5Q3 Deluxe thread ( click here ) [ http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=251 ]

I'm having an Overvolt protection issue when I try to boot with 1.65V+

The board hangs at boot and gives a warning.

Am I missing a seting in BIOS?

If you're talking about a "CPU Voltage Warning" ( don't remember the exact phrase ) then all you need to do is press F1 to continue.
And maybe next time you enter the BIOS go to the Hardware Monitoring section and set the CPU Voltage indicator to "Ignored" to stop this message from appearing.

It was looping the warning, pressed F1 and hanged again.

But seting to "ignored" solved it! Now I boot as high as I want

    Thank you!
