Foxconn Dreadnought + 3-way GTX 280. Vantage testing begins

    Hi all!

I used this weekend to test Foxconn Dreadnought 790i Ultra motherboard and Foxconn GTX 280 graphics cards.

All didn't go as well as it could have, but I got some first scores out

    Setup:
    QX9650 (5.4GHz, -110c, 1.94V in load)
    Foxconn Dreadnought 790i Ultra
    Foxconn GTX 280 (3-way SLI) 740/1480/1280 1.3V
    G.Skill F3-12800CL7 2GBHZ (7-6-6-15 1T "safe settings")
    Thermaltake 1200W

Cooling: Air cooling on vgas and chipset. LN2 on CPU.

Driver 177.35 + Nvidia PhysX (I hope FM find a way to handle this issue with new hotfix or something )

Then you have to see some pictures of my current setup:

    Then some scores:

X 16138 (CPU only 4.8GHz. No need for more MHz)

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=196722

    H 23190 (CPU @ 5.2GHz)

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=203901

    P 32504 ( CPU @ 5.4GHz)

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=204016

    E 77608 (CPU @ 5.4GHz)

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=203996

Next I will put these cards under cold. I will have some heavy cooling power soon, but first I will test my SLI single stages (1HP each)

I'm quite satisfied and now I'm hungry for more

    Thank you Peter and Foxconn!!!

great results mate, looking forward to what you do under cold,

i guess my plan is similar to yours, ill test each card individually on ln2, then ill target some dual-card benchmarks to get back into the swing of multi gpu pot benching... and then of course onto triple vantage

I see FM has approved 177.35 drivers but I dont see the GTX 260/280 visible.

Good start, passed my scores up.

Thanks! My problems were CPU related this time. Some HW mods solved my issues. I just need better CPU.

Thank you! I hear these scale pretty well under cold.

Yes. They are thinking what to do with 260/280 scores. FM don't want to publish PhysX scores, but they can't show any 260/280 scores in that case. I think they will release new hotfix, where GPU physics is disabled

    More scores are coming!

    my 6600gt spanks those!

But great job man, that extreme result looks like it should be an 06 score, though I don't think enabling physx will allow for a fair comparison between tri-sli gtx 280 and quadfire 4870x2 (once it comes out) until ati either adopts CUDA or makes something better from HAVOC unless if you only look at the gpu score

PR96 mod. (Permanent vdroop) Then some other mods, whih you have seen in our e-mails. Nothing special. Vdroop should be fixed in next bios release, but I couldn't wait it.

Nvidia PhysX doesn't help with X scores (Maybe ~50 points). Only E/P likes it a lot and you get few hundred points more in H

So highly overcloked X scores will be comparable with different graphics cards.

    1st card under cold

Today I tested my SLI cooling machine. There is two 1HP compressors in it and they are completely separated.

First I had to adjust it to handle this really hot card. It couldn't handle it well and evaporator temperature was only -26 in worst cases. (Second test, 2min+, just before the end) Idle was nice -45c (both evap and core)

There was no problems at all and if this machine could handle load better, benching would be really easy.

    This time I changed PCI-E to 135MHz.

Few messy and dirty pics (Sorry )

    Quick insulation:

    Setup:

Best result was done with 1.3Vgpu and 885/1905/1300 speeds.
These cards scale impressively well under cold

Really? That seems backwards to me. I suppose thats what I get for not running Vantage

mate i havnt tried x and h yet because of monitor restrctioned, do you NEED to clock down cpu compared to other tests (ie, is it alot heavier on cpu during these tests) or have you just done it because its not requried for maximum score?

    cheers

i think its the later youngpro, since the GPU are getting raped so hard they are the bottleneck.

I tested 130MHz with 3-way. so I'm not surprised if it can do 135MHz as well

Yes it is S-ATA. No problems at all. Nvidia chipsets have been able to do that since 680i.

It is my own design and it is perfect. I really mean it. Temperatures can be adjusted just the way I like it.

    Pics and story in here:

Some of you judge vantage too hard Test it and see it yourself

I have been sick and tired with old benchmarks and CPU bottleneck! If you don't have good contacts or luck in lottery, you will have to forget top places in those benchmarks. No that time is over. H/X presets are pure vga tests, so battle will be more interesting in those presets

In X preset CPU speed is not relevant. That is pure Vga test and you can use air / water on cpu and then just LN2 to your vgas.

    Yes. That is true!

Tonight SLI runs on single stages. 14K in X would be sweet. 13K is my goal.

I will test some older benchmarks too, but those need so much CPU power, that it is not fun without LN2.

    Two cards under cold!

Today I got these single stages to work little better. Temperatures weren't dropping so much, but I had another problem.

Condensation --> It was nice day here, but it was raining a little. Because of that, my cards were swimming in the PCI-E slots

Tomorrow new try with some better insulation. 900/1925/1300 should be doable.

Here is the only run from today:

    X 11389 (4.2GHz CPU / 850,1850,1300 GTX 280's)
    VGPU = 1.308V on load

Setup (Sorry about the mess )
