Really? Interesting. Sounds like there is probably less vDimm fluctuations, cleaner power going to the memory. I might actually try more volts...

After selling my X3350 i'll get an E8400 in the evening. Will it be hard to achieve 500 mhz fsb ?
Maybe any presets for me, warnings or hints ? See sig for rest of my hardware.

I don't think i will need over 500, my goal is 4 ghz and cpu has multiplier 9 so even a top notch cpu will reach it's limit before mobo does. Will post later how it went if i'm home early enough (will watch germanys game in EM2008). If i remember correctly with low gtls you mean around 60 or am i totally wrong ? Hopefully i can get rams stable with all banks occupied. You have a simmilar mem config, mind posting a preset ?

its weird zanzabar for 554fsb i used 1.55cpu vtt n set gtll 106-106-105
i was playin around with gtls till i got stable
and the best thing about low gtl settings is that nb n pwn run cooler
last year i staried using anantechs p35 chart
then i used clunk's chart now for high fsb it looks like anantech's chart working
it equals to 67% but the charts are different
ic3m452005 you gotta use 61-63% on gtl settings for 45nm cpu

thanks, will try it, but it seems my cpu is a bad clocker, not even 3400 at def vcore :C
The only good thing is that it will not last long in my rig, waiting for intel price cut
So i'll just beat it to 4 ghz and in a month or so i'll get me a 45nm quad again.
Does anyone know if nehalem will release as an "extreme" quad first and half a year later the mainstream cores will follow (same procedure as QX9650 -> other 45nm quads) ?

This is a forum for LT not DK, but I can tell you I just managed to get 470 FSB on my LT X38-T2R + Q6600. At 460MHz there's little need for GTL tweaking, but beyond that it requires heavy GTL tuning to be stable. Good thing is I'd probably never need > 460 FSB for this q6600 rig.
BTW I have a question to guru's out there - what's the expected vNB range for Q6600 at 460 - 470 FSB ? I have to raise it up 1.456v for 460 and 1.517v for 470 and does that look excessive (multi = 7x only)? Would the UT P35 do better?
the LT is better than the DK?

Yes. Less bios options I think on the DK.

I'm using latest beta 603 for few days now - all I can tell about it: more problems, no valuable positives... unfortunatelyProblems = way too much C1 errors during bootup and restart @the same MHz/timing/voltage settings (stable on latest official bios release)...
Goin' back to latest official during next reboot...

Guys,
still can't get my Q6600 above 450 FSB on this mobo. Tried everything, GTLs, voltages, and I'm certainly not a noob. Really bugs me because I know the CPU can handle more (FSB 480 was primestable on the Abit IX38). Now since my SS unit is at its limit with this super-hungy Q6600 of mine I'm thinking about going the 45nm route.
What I need to know is this: If the CPU can handle it, can I expect to go higher than 450 fsb-wise with the 45nm quad? Has anyone here done that? I'm talking WCG/gamestable here, not 1M runs
Please let me know what your max stable FSB is if you own this mobo and any 45nm quad.

Hey everyone, I'm back again... was just hoping someone could let me know if I need to reseat my heatsink...
I finished a test build and had the motherboard inside my cosmos s with the side off. I'm running at stock board settings...
e8400
TRUE(w/noctua nf-p12)
dfi lp lt x38 t2r
2x2gb g.skill(ddr2-1000) running it at 2.0v
wd 640gb
corsair 750tx
9800gtx(I have it in the 2nd pci-e x16 slot and the board actually sits on and touches the sb heatsink O.o)
I asked a few times in this thread and was told mounting the true horizontally(left to right) causes a problem; which I STILL don't see how as it comes nowhere near the NB heatsink. Vertically(up to down) the heatpipe(s) comes within 1mm of the northbridge heatsink.
I have it setup vertically. I usually spread tim across the die(athlon xp days) but since e8400 uses IHS I looked up online different methods... I used this one from benchmarkreviews/com
http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...1&limitstart=4
The method with two lines close to each other near the center. I did the same with the northbridge heatsink.
In the BIOS it reads the coretemp at 40c and the northbridge at 43c. Aren't these temps way too high for idle? I have seen people post lower with stock heatsink and o/c'd??
I used AC MX-2... I know I'm alittle behind the times with aftermarket coolers nd applications from the socket days.... but, what's up?
The TRUE is mounted tight and does not move. The retention screws are all the way down. I know e8400's have temp sensor problems and some older boards with them but I don't know what the bios temp signifies?
I ask here because i'm sure someone has a true/e8400 combo on this board and can tell me what the bios core and nb normal idle temps are, please? I'll reseat if I have too but I'm going to spend tonight doing cable management and dremeling the side fan so I can fit the panel on with the true.
p.s. I used the same tim application on the NM heatsink too.
thanks,
jupitersj
