This is at Linked/Synched mode with the FSB ( low FSB damn it )
Great work ! Nice results! Now I can see DDR3>>DDR2

Really looking forward to your experience with the EVO. I knew all along that this humble 'workstation' board would put to shame overhyped boards like the BlackOPS. You can only wonder how much better the Asus board could have been with more elaborate cooling ala X48-T3R...

Just received my first batch of E8500s... and one of them is... hold on... a Q807A
The supposed to be "magic" batch ( you've probably seen some doing 5.8GHz ++ here already ).
The funniest part is that I didn't pick the CPUs and didn't ask for specific batches... I just ordered some from some online shops.
So... it could be....me being lucky for once... or... "cleaning" the batch, get the worst piece of this batch off the market and leave the good chips for the rest

I'll start the tests on the Striker II Extreme and then move on to some P45 boards ( my P5Q3 Deluxe shall be released from the.... *(*)(*#@)*#)__$(+ customs today ) [ special thanks to FedEx for the nice 7 days delay ]

I'm "assembling" the Striker II Extreme now ( needed a remount of the "heatsinks" )

    First signs...hmmm bad ?
    1) Stuck temp sensors
    2) Striker II Extreme is f*ing with me, probably RMA time approaching.
    3) Board shuts down due to... 80C idle @ 1.6V @ watercooling... hmmm don't think so
    4) It is... typical
Oh and... max POSTable FSB is 550MHz ( QDR2200 ) no matter what I do ( hmm...maybe some petrol on the S2E could help )

    lol
well it could be the cpus.. if the temp probes report complete bs to the board/bios, it might shut down and give you problems cause it thinks the cpus are burning up...
check with your asus contact if you can get a bios to disable temp readings all together so the board just ignores the reported cpu temp.

or maybe it really is the chipset burning up cause of those high volts you pushed into it...

The board is acting...like that with the QX as well.
I think it's Striker II Extreme RMA #1 ( let's see if we can beat the legendary 5 RMAs of the first Striker Extreme )
The EP45-DS4 that I have set up next to me can boot only up to 550MHz with this chip on air ( haven't tested within windows, and there's also a problem with the 1:1 divider... so to boot at 550MHz I have to run my memories at DDR2-1320... and I don't think they can go higher than 1350 ) [ also don't know if the board can handle DDR2-1350 as well ].
FedEx's site reports that my P5Q3 Deluxe sample is in "customs clearance" status... since... 12am... I'm gonna give them a call to make sure they don't screw up with me again and delay the delivery of the board even more ( if you see something like "young man kills several FedEx employees on the news, you know who that'd be )

so your sure the board is dying then? it hasnt been very long has it? how many months? 3?

i wouldnt call them... in my experience, as soon as you show any interest in them holding your stuff and delaying things, they start to get really anal and tripple check everything and try to charge you imaginary taxes and fees to get your goods. as soon as you tell them its not yours and your just picking it up for a friend or your compay and dont really care and wont accept it if you have to pay a lot of money, they just hand out the stuff and let it be

    dont you just love customs?
like how they google for hardware and then look for the most expensive price of some online shop that entered the launch price and then forgot to remove that product from their catalogue for years, and then they want to calculate the import tax based on that price claiming its the retail price
