My stable 24/7:
![]()
Arch Linux 2009.02
Yeah definitely, mine is running stable at 4ghz (500*8) at 1,4V. The thing is that its 3,8ghz stable at 1.26V so it seems like you need to upper the juice to 1.4V+ to get it stable at 4ghz.
How high do you think I could get mine 24/7 with stock voltages and stock cooler?
currently @ 2.75 its at 39 idle/ 45 load
When it comes to overclocking its alot about trail and error my friend, so increase the speed stepwise and you will notice when it becomes unstable.
If I were you I would turn up the vcore to 1,25-1,28V then just upper the speed to around 3-3.2ghz. If its stable go ahead increase the speed more and see when it becomes unstable. Just remember to increase the power to the NB, memmory and so on so you know for sure that its the cpu thats making it unstable. I assume that you have a motherboard capable of a fsb of 400.
As I wrote earlier it seems like you can reach 3.5-3.8 ghz with a vcore of 1.26-1.3 which shouldnt be a problem for a stock cooler. Im using a Tuniq Tower cooler which is turned down to minimum fanspeed and my temperatures are ~40 idle and ~70 load.
I've got a DFI X38 dark. I'm just hoping for a 3.0. I think I should hit that just fine today.
my 24/7 atm :
and max superpi 1MB(made a screen with realtemp and spi but it didn't save and its too late and im 2 lazy to go 4.5ghz again :P)

I'm running 24/7 @ 4GHz w/ 1.45 (set in bios) on P5Q Deluxe
Not bad for 130 bucks.
CPU: Intel CORE 2 Duo E6550 @ 3.6GHz w/ 1.29vcore (517*7)
Motherboard:
Gigabyte P35-DQ6
Memory:
Crucial 8500's
Video:
Nvidia 8800GTX
PSU:
Zippy 700W (fan modded of course)
Question: what is the safe and reasonable vcore for 24/7 on AIR cooling for this processor??
Arch Linux 2009.02
stinguish: what's the VID on that chip?

@stingush,
thanks for the batch bro. you got yourself a very nice chip.
Not so stable but on cheap water: 4680 mhz
your vid is already too high i guess... and your chip isn't that good :P(mine doing 4600mhz on 1.55V aircooled(TT BT))
