    gcardinal,

    Have you stress tested at stock? I usually do a Prime95 and 3DMark06 loop for 24 hours at stock settings on any new board. That way you know it's over-clock related when it starts misbehaving later.

    I'm now adding Memtest to the mix since I've noticed that I have errors in Memtest at stock settings (though mem volts are set to RAM's requirement).

    I looked back but couldn't find this. . . why exactly did you move back to 0704 from 0801? I hope my memtest issues with my Patriot DIMMs (at stock speeds) aren't due to 0801!

    Dont worry, whenever you have some time you can test it, if you really have the problem, it will take you around 2 mins.

    0704 and 0801 are exactly the same. Since I cant get my system estable on 0704, the same goes for 0801. 0703 is my spot for now and I dont want to leave the system priming all night with 0704 for now because Im waiting for NVIDIA to fix SLI freezing issues.

    I would recommend you give 0703 a try and probably 0704 too. 0801 according to pmp has supposedly better cas 7 performance, but I didnt notice any increase of bandwidth at all.

    My PC just froze with 0703? Prob because I was watching a video chat and WMP froze because of SLI. Oh god...

    If this new RAM (replacing Patriot that's memtest erroring with Mushkins tonight) doesn't make this board stable, I may just stick with the motherboard, CPU, and RAM in my sig. That's still not a bad system! I'll just be throwing my GTX 280s and my Velociraptor in there and away I go. That was the original plan. But then I got carried away and decided to do a full upgrade because I wanted to be as sure as possible that the GTX 280s wouldn't cpu-limited.

    Still hopeful. But not sure how much time I want to devote to a CPU, motherboard, and RAM that I could just return/sell and probably not notice much of a performance difference. But the restocking fees would be a killer. =(

    You´ve been tireless trying to achieve the SWEET SPOT on this board...
    Keep going , and good luck is all i can say to you.
    For me it´s donne. I´ve losted any hope, because you can be completely stable for one week, and then, from nowhere, problems apear.. freezes, bsod,SLI problems, corruption etc...
    I was tempted to do SLI with this board, in fact i have a second 9800 GX2 here. It´s was never assembled because i dont have a PSU that can support 2x9800 GX2. But the truth is, one 9800GX2 is enought for me, i can play Crysis DX10 in VERY HIGH 1650x1080 at 37 frames second. So i will stick with one 9800 GX2 or maybe i buy the new GTX 280 and an RAMPAGE EXTREME board.

    Uptime almost 2 days, I use this computer for everything gaming, movies, photoshop ect.
    I never crash or have any problems, I already forgot what BSOD looks like LMAO...

    On another note: My NB runs cooler then SB & the SB has a fan. NB has no cooling...

    Thanks for the support
    I also admire you for spending a lot of time trying to make this board estable and make it work as it should, thats impressive from you and everybody else here
    BTW, dont lose your hopes, I too felt like that when I was in BIOS 0601, then GAR told me to do this and that and I finally booted my PC and was like the best day. You just gotta find that spot, of course, we know how problematic this board is so dont ask for 500FSB:2000RAM

    If you still feel like getting another mb, the Rampage Extreme looks like a great board, but looks is what brings the prices up and ASUS will make it worth $500 at least so Im kinda not really interested into it because of the price. There are many great motherboards like the Maximus II, P5E3 Premium, Blackops, the x48 WS version from ASUS which I cant recall the name and many others.

    Good luck finding the spot and making it estable soon

    SIIE DIMM slot issue...

    Hi i just wonder if some of you guys have stumbled across this problem...

    After my third SIIE RMA i finally got a board that works and is stabile. However i can only use DIMM slot 1 and 2. It works to OC to 1800 without any problems. But putting the DIMMs i the blue or the white slots i only get an error message and the system refuses to post.
    I´ve tested both my OCZ 2x2GB 1600 kit as well as my Corsair 2x1GB 1800 kit, the result is the same. I also run memtest with both the kits on my Bonetrail without any errors (the BT works like a charm).

    I can live with it, but it is a bit innoying.

    Cheers friends

    Well. . . I hope I don't jinx myself. The new RAM made all the difference. Passed five times before I decided to go back to overclocking. And now things are moving along a lot smoother.

    I'm going for a conservative "linked and synched" OC to my RAM's specified 1600MHz speed. So that's 3.2GHz on the Q9450 and 1600 on the ram (FSB of 400).

    Preliminary Prime95 testing looks good. I tweaked down some voltages from what I saw recommended here and turned off Load Level Calibration based on a cautionary article I read over at Anandtech that sorta pooped on it as causing more problems than it solves.

    I'd probably be prime stable at this point if I just plugged in the settings I've seen work here for others. But I'm trying to fine tune things and lower some of the voltage to be more in tune with what my particular CPU needs rather than over-doing it and giving it more than it needs. Since my CPU temps are already a bit higher than I'd like in my 90f office, every bit of vcore counts!

    If I'm right, the way you do it, you don't run dual channel ?
    Wouldn't be to happy with that
    Try to use the white slots and up your NB a bit.
    The NB is very powerhungry with highspeed mem.

    Guys,

    i can't get this board stable.

    Setup:

    Striker NSE @ Extreme 704 bios
    Q9450
    8900GTX in SLI
    Win Vista 32bit
    I am running NSE with Extreme bios 704 and i cant get it stable. Whereas it crashed with 0305 bios from NSE every minute in now crashes every 20 minutes
    Thats better but still crap. I am also using OCZ 1333mhz 2GB kit and it only gets 1.66V if i try to raise this to 1.8 pc wont get in to windows (vista 32bit)

    anyone know if you have troubles raising voltages? Or do i need to raise something specific as well to be able to run in at 1.8V?

    Try to use the white slots and up your NB a bit.
    The NB is very powerhungry with highspeed mem.
    Ok, i´ll try that.
    But i still wonder why it cant post? On my previuos boards (the ones going to RMA) it at least POSTed....

    CPU=1,29v
    NB=1,7v
    SB=1,6v
    vDIMM=2,02v

    And still the same result, no posting and the LCD poster says DET DIMM and nothing more.

    Cheers friends

    just want to share my experience with this mobo.

    i am talking dual core and 500fsb++ upwards because with bios 0801 my striker didnt work under this fsb

    with every bios some fsb work and next bios same does not work -so seek for it. like 680i try big jumps
    bios 0801 a lot of fsb holes but if it works its most stable bios for me.with nvidia 17.15 driver.
    the mobo really likes my ocz 1600 cl7-7-7 with micron-GTN most-no hdd crash.
    with kingston 1800 cl8 and micron GTR- every five minutes hdd crash-newer chips i dont know.(all only if overclocked-but thats what we do!)

    my board needed this volt for maximum with e-8400=fsb 533x8.5 ,1:2 ,cl8-8-7-26
    vtt=1,28
    sb=1,55
    nb=1,46
    pll=1,55
    ram=2,22 -with lower tras board would not boot

    i hope this helps little bit
    cu
