All this talk got me so exited I got :

You know spreadsheets these days demand a lot of power, sure hope
it's enough
Looking for the camera
For cpu's or small staff there should be a setting for "close ups" mine
has a picture of a flower![]()

That's the first week 812 I think I've seen. Hmm...
Not much to say right now.
For the camera the closest thing I have to "close-ups" is a portrait setting, but that's only good into ~2' - closer than that and things get blurry. Optical zoom doesn't help. I can manually set the F-stop but there's no focusing ring, of course ...![]()

There are 2 entries (on the 1st page) with 0812 different letters thou.
I printed the list and took it to the store with me, knowing that they got a
"fresh" batch, told the guy to bring em all outso I could check the batch,
they only had 3 left all with the same numbers/letters. I have no idea why AMD
would even bother with the heatsink- it idles at 50C all stockunder it.

EDIT**
Seems like the "TLB" circle (I thought is disappeared with the 9850)
Can take off 10c in "green" mode VS "red" mode, the yellow is gone..

Well, my board is officially going to find the scrap heap soon. My good 9850 was able to boot into windows at 3ghz on 1.3v reliably, now it doesn't reliably do 2.7. I could stabilize 3ghz for small fft's, now it just plain freezes if I even get it to run. The chip aint bad, I haven't used it for more than 3-4 weeks at absolute most. All the more reason for me to get a SB750 based board.
Not much to say right now.
thats odd.
I'm thinking about getting a BE, or try this board out I found.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813153113
Sb700 2 pci express slots
790Fx is the way I'm going man. What's the point of having a 1kW psu if I have a board designed for HTPC applications? But yeah, its because of me pushing my 9600 so far that something got screwed up with power to the cpu or something. It still works, its just annoying to deal with because its not reliable anymore. I was hoping to get all my tests on crossfire done with the board before upgrading to SB750 when it comes out. Just adds to how long it'll be before I get enough benchmarks for a conclusion on who is better at doing crossfire.
Not much to say right now.
Didn't do that to this one. I've done at most 1.4v set in the bios for it. Everything went downhill after the 9600. It was because I tried like 1.45v with the chip, something on the board screwed up, and now at that setting it gives 1.39v, but I can still get up to 1.55 if I set it up that high.
Not much to say right now.
Well, then a rma of the board is the next thing to do I think.
Nah, its my fault it happened. That and I've had the board for 7 months, I think its a little long to be asking for one now.
Not much to say right now.
well, no, if you feed the cpu voltages the board is supposed to handle it shouldn't be a problem rma'ing it, even after seven months. If it stops working the day after you buy it or 3/4 of a year after you buy it, that should not be an issue. There is a one year warranty isnt it?

I think its a 3-year warranty, at least that's what my Rampage Formula gets. Wish I knew where that box went...

Your post has made me a bit sad. Your first phenom 9850 is from exactly the same batch as mine. I just hope that they are not identical twin brothersI believe that's the first time it's been posted on this site. When I googled it a few days ago there were only 3 sites that came up. I was really looking forward to overclocking it before, now I am dreading it.
As it was a previously unknown batch I had hoped that it may be a good one. I am not hopeful now. If you only managed 2700 Mhz with a watercooling system. I can't afford such a setup and will be using air. I will be very disappointed if the maximum I reach is 2.7Ghz. People have acheived this and beyond with (TLB afflicted) 9600s! When I decided to buy a Phenom 9850 black edition I certainly hoped to be able to squeeze more than a measly 200Mhz out of it.
It may sound a bit harsh but I can only hope it was your motherboard and/or BIOS limiting your success. I don't plan to get that motherboard. Perhaps I will have better results.
Oh well I'll prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
I will post results when I have some.

That doesn't sound harsh: We're all hoping that the SB600 is holding us back.
Actually I'm hoping to see 3.8Ghz stable and 4.0Ghz verified with the sb750. (Because if the serious overclockers do those speeds... then 3.4Ghz-3.6Ghz should be really easy to do. We've already seen 3.4Ghz. Come on 3.6Ghz!)

I should clarify. I meant that I hope that it's that particular motherboard model and/or BIOS which is limiting his results. Hopefully that particular CPU batch + a different combination of motherboard and BIOS will yield better results. We probably will see much better results with SB7XXs but an overclock of just 200Mhz even with SB600 is very disappointing.
@demonkevy666 and keithlm Do you think that such frequencies will realistically be possible with the AMD 700 series of southbridges?
I hope it turns out like that for current 9850s
