Hey everyone. I'm just getting through the basic grounds of overclocking. I'm reading up on how to do it. Although I want to overclock, I don't want to do it on the Dell dimension 4600 that i now have. Yea it sux. ANYWAYS. I need some tips on what to buy. I don't want to buy a rig and amp it up. I would really just like to start from the ground up. I just got a pretty good paying job and i also have a side job, so money is no worry to me at the moment.
Also im going to post some pics of my rigs innards later so you guys can see what kind of weakness i got going on!

I say...PICS!!!! also what type of rig were you thinking, ati cards, nvidia cards?? intel chipset or nvidia chipset?? DONT buy and amd based hardware though, they have yet to relezase stuff that overclocks well, and as a first time overclocker it may turn you against it.

Just like tiro asked, what are you going to use this rig for?
Also, do you want to pair it up with extreme cooling as well?

if you were kidding about the 9770, then do you want to start with one small rig, play with it 'til you get bored (1 hour to 1 month), and then move up?

if you really want top top of the line, well... how does gtx 280 tri-sli sound? you've got millions of reviews over on the news section lol... or skulltrail?? :o

So im rethinking what i want to do for my system. I think its better i wait so i can get the best parts. than buy everything right now, cuz it will be cheaper.
So what im saying is i don't have a budget limit.
I plan on playing games like Crysis, Assassins Creed, Unreal Tournament 3, Call Of Duty 4.
The new, more demanding games.

depends on your budget and what sizes you want and in the end what kind of GPU you get

I have a 8800gts 512 @ 1680 x 1050 on a syncmaster 225bw, works perfect good combo

as my dream setup would probably be dual 280gtx and a 30" Dell
