...hmm.. so $499 is a fud..fake? and $399 for the 260 too?

another thing to look at is that games that are currently out are not designed to use much more than the 128 that was on the 8800gtx. however newer games that are able to use more of the GTX 280's power will see vastly higher numbers of the 9800's and 8800's. not to mention drivers.

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
This is starting to look like my next card. Just need some more 1920x1200 benches now.
....same old song about drivers!
Its always drivers folt ... don't you think, that this card aint that powerful as you wanted to be ???
The life is full with disappoints, this is one of them.
p.s. I play at 19x12 ... and the G280 sucks.
p.s. 2. if the card cant handel Crysis, that means that the card is already old and forgotten .
Lol then your cards are dinosaurs, you don't even own the new card how can you judge it's performance ? It's way faster than any single card out there... and many SLI configs will have to give way too...
And mate each new card needs it set of drivers, as it has to compatible with old and new games... and they will put in some optimisations to get a few extra % of performance once feedback from the users starts...
Jeez and always Crysis, same old song too not ???

Peeps really seem to forget these are single GPU cards and that they perform at Xfire or SLI level... but some always know better... whished some would buy a playstation or such and leave the hardware freaks alone... Only reason for some to be here is to nag ; overpriced, not double performance of last years top card, etc...
No worries Hornet331, Snake is a long time in the bag... prolly will try to spray it's venom a few more times till it gets tired...then we will put it in the meatgrinder...
Plz remove yourself from this thread then and take a seat in the ecomics section...

ble imho hes just trolling.... don't takes his bite.
First is a crap card, then graphic card and now it's a good card... I spot a trend hereI'm getting confused
Nurse where are my pills ? But this is getting rediculous looks more like a chatbox then a hardware forum... we want more results for the lovers; the haters better start an anti thread...

MAXIMUM Price drop on GTX 280: $599. Anything more than that is wishful thinking. The GTX 260 price is set at $399 and these price will remain for at least 3-4 months.
The question no one is asking is: If the 9900GTX (G92b aka 9800GTX on 55nm) is coming out next month with improved clocks, will Nvidia go ahead and produce a 9900GX2 (which would be much easier and cheaper to produce at 55nm) as it could possibly end up cheaper and faster than a GTX 280...
or will they cap it for the sake of their own profits.

Yes but is it a paper weight yet?
I play at 1920x1200 with 4x AA ( in some games I can't even manage to use AA ) with 2 8800GTS 512s and the 280 spanks them based on their preliminary benchmarks. The difference between 2 88GTX/Ultras would be less defined but the fact remains is the 256bit GDDR3 of G92 is a bottleneck at this point so I'm excited for the 280 personally. If you didn't notice, the 280 seems to do quite well in DX10 modes in the games listed in those Inquirer benchmarks.

That statement came from NVidia themselves... You'll have to find something not bottlenecked elsewhere to see that show up. Similar to how even though the x1900xt had 3 times the shader power of the x1800xt it didn't always show too much of a gain early on, but you test it with new games and it'll show up almost every single time.
The big thing is, other than crysis, we really don't have any titles that REALLY can push these new architectures. Other than the Big C, how many titles can't be maxed out with an 8800GTX or even an OC'ed 3870(albeit, without AA)? We need to see some seriously stressful titles before we see what this new architecture is truly capable of. I am, however, noting just how small the hit of going from DX9 high to DX10 very high in crysis is, and that shows a very bright future for these cards.
btw, did you notice the size of the jump from the 177.26 to 177.38(13 FPS in DX10 very high crysis at 1920x1200!)? I wonder what the official drivers released within the opening week will end up with performance wise.
Thank you DilTech, this is what I've been thinking myself. Current titles just don't leverage the new architecture. Your point on the x1900xt is a good one. I remember playing Oblivion at launch then going to a x1900xt and it was a huge difference in that game, which was arguably the most advanced and shader intensive game at the time, even though many of hte other games at the time didn't show the same gains.
Lets bring on Clear Sky, Alan Wake and Far Cry 2 and then they will see you were right![]()

Ok Dil, I'm putting you on the spot:

EDIT: FINALLY X_X I've been wondering where your and Cooper's fury has gone![]()
