    Hello

    Thanks for your relply

Well first thing first, when overclocking CPU disable these..
CPU internal thermal control = disable
    disable every spread spectrum controls.
    enhanced intel speedstep = disable
    execute disable bit = disable
    Virtualization technology = disable
and you might want to give us info about the voltages your using, would help.
Those config options, in special enhanced intel speedstep = disable, performs the system work, is MUST BE DISABLED, or it's just a suggestion?

I found the problem, My OS. Windows 2003 x64 sp2-r2 is giving problems on OC, it detects something strange on the cpu clock vs original clock and halts the system with a message of malfunction. I'm pretty sure about that because wit Debian (linux) i can tune up my cpu at least to 3,2Ghz....
Someone knows how to disable this protection on windows 2003?

On the oter hand, the fsb-ram parameters, to perform a 1:1, what would be the ideal configuration for my hardware (fsb1066, ram 1066) Linked mode , sincronimous, fsb1066 - ram 666 ?? i can tune up those values to perform better OC?

    Thanks

Yes for best overclocking results intel speedstep must be switched off like the other settings I mentioned before, best way to found out if your system is stable is to run some kinda of stressing program(occt, prime) just because your linux OS boots doesn't mean your overclock is stable, so its unlikely your windows OS suffers from a problem or this protection you mentioned. if it detects a problem that most likely because your OC isn't stable, without knowing your voltages its hard to help you sadly. so if you can post all the voltages your using that would be a big help, Because to me it sounds like your CPU is lacking the voltage it needs and is unstable because of that. and also the name of your CPU and Ram would also help.

Just an update on the 1305 bios... no problems whatsoever... I've been watching hours of movies, of course it should be no problem watching movies, but no corruption or anything... really good bios update this time
    This one's a keeper

    You were absolutely right.
Linux system either is nos stable, burning the cpu i gets crashed.

My CPU is a Quad Core Q6700 kentsfield (2,67Ghz)
    RAM OCZ 4-4-4-12 1066mhz ( with no OC )

The voltage is settled to default, as seen here.

and here a voltage screenshot with those values:
    FSB(qdr) - 1600mhz
    Sync mode
    RAM DDR linked 800Mhz
    Multiplier X8.0
    ----------------------------
    total cpu speed 3,2Ghz

I should set the voltage manually or What? wich ones? the Max limit to set up voltage is? (to do not burn the CPU xD)
I have widely heard about tunning a Q6600 up to 3.2Ghz, without setting special voltage, thats weird that my systems seems to requiere doing it

    All the best.

What kind of cooling are you planning on? Water cooling at all? Any cooling of the chipsets? It matter even with a cool case. I have a Zmachine which is a solid alum. case with very good temps. And i had cooling issues with the chipsets. Both you choices seem good. But make sure to have additional cooling.

    Question to all

Since it has been shown that when the FSB goes over 450 on this board, ram bandwidth drops and latency increases considerably. Has anyone found any numbers above 450 where these numbers go back to normal?

    Hi EvoCarlos
    Welcome to the "Official" thread.

    Guys,
43 to 48 are good latency numbers. 60+ is terrible. Test at 450 or under and you will see the "good" numbers. I was hoping there might be somewhere over 450 where the numbers come back to normal.

    Something like this...

Looks like you latency drops as you up the freq, but like I said, 60+ is poor.

Hi Horseman and all, have been following this thread for weeks and time to give credit to all of you in this post~

Brief system config is in my signature...
I reached 4.5G but failed to stress test/3DMark06. Thanks to Horseman for giving a hint (in the other S2F post) by increasing the 1.2v HT, vtt and -30 in NB_GTL, I am able to complete 3dMark06 with single 9800gtx (oc 800/2000/1200) achieving 15511 marks. I run Linked/Sync 1000MHz at ram but forgot to tighten the timings (5-5-5-18 CR2). I do need further directions from you guys in the following:

    1. still got some blue screen after benchmarking, what aspects (NB/GTLs/vcore) should I try to increase to maintain stability?
    2. if wanna get the system passing Orthos stress test, what aspects should I pay attention to?

Finally for a single 9800gtx, is 15511 a moderate result? Should I go further by tighten timings and oc more on VGA card? (I am so jealous at Horseman's 20K+ 3DMark06...)

Thank to all for your every great post!!!

P.S. about memory bandwidth issue, people in my country challenged me when I give the figure of Read:11050 when OC to 3.8G and Link/Sync ram 4-4-3-8-CR1. They said the Everest 1376beta got bugs in this memory benchmarking since they cannot even reach 11000 using DDR3-1600 or above. So Sandra XII is used instead and the "similar" memory read result is 8.6 @3.8G and 9.0 @4.5G. People using DDR3-highspeed got memory read of 9.4 and so they said this is a normal difference. I avoid the conflict with them. What do you think?

Thanks for telling me that. My original idea to buy this mobo is to get the second 9800gtx later... However Nvidia has new cards (GTX260 & GTX280) selling already in HK, which really upset me lolz. I got my system in early May!

Compare and test 8 x 450 with 9 x 400 with ram at same speed to make a fair judgement...

this piccie is taken on the OLD 680i with an E8400 and ram at 4-4-4-12 2T, 780i should give slightly better numbers but Horsemen judgement is correct... 780i behaves in the same manner as 680i... nice low latency till 425ish FSB, above it drops dramatically... but the increased overal CPU speed helps scores, also the divider used is pretty important with Nvidia chipsets...hence why I ask you to redo the tests at same CPU speed...

Actually, I seemed to have forgotten that if you run linked and synced above 450, it keeps the good numbers, though might not get the maximum out of your ram.

    1. still got some blue screen after benchmarking, what aspects (NB/GTLs/vcore) should I try to increase to maintain stability?
    2. if wanna get the system passing Orthos stress test, what aspects should I pay attention to?

Finally for a single 9800gtx, is 15511 a moderate result? Should I go further by tighten timings and oc more on VGA card?
    Hi mootov,

thanks for the kind words for us all. Personally, I wouldn't know what I know without the help of others on this forum, so I share the credit with everyone here.

    1. You have to try increasing and decreasing it. If you have a bsod, try a different number. I'd recommend increasing or decreasing 40mv at a time.
    2. Heat heat heat. Orthos usually fails because a core is overheating. Actually, use OCCT. Less buggy than Orthos.
    3. As long as your ram passes memtest at lower timings, use it. If you run linked and synced, you won't come near what you ram could run, so lower timings are possible. Also, running your video card, as long at what it can run is all you can do. Use ATI Tool to check for artifacts, though simply gaming will also give you an idea too. I've run artifact free in ATI Tool and then have the cards act up in a game. Use both to find your "sweet" card numbers.

I just finished working in China for 1.5 years and have much praise for the country. I am finished there for now, though might be passing by via Hong Kong on the way to my new job in Thailand.

Anybody Using this sound card on this board? I sank $200 into a Xonar but it wont fit b/c of the NB HS. Down side of tri-sli. the only usable expansion slot is the 1x at the top. I hate the supreme fx II that came with the board. Anybody know of a different nforce board that has a different PCI/PCI-E configuration?

1305 solves a lot of issues, best out so far by far. We're still waiting on 1401, whenever that happens.

Looks like the EVGA 790i may fit a full size card inthe top 1x slot. Can anybody confirm?
