Run RealTemp and use the "Test Sensors" button bottom left.

which is better to be trusted with showing the right temps Core Temp or Real Temp, because CoreTemp is showing a higher temperature on my cores with about 10 degrees and RealTemp shows me the same temp as my motherboard utilities do.

From what ive heard Prime95 isnt really good for the 45nm chips well even the 65nm, Will not see me using it for stablity testing

Heard is damages the chip in some sense. From what ive heard tho.

10°C is the difference between TJcase max 105°C for coretemp (can be altered) and 95°C for Realtemp... for more info on the matter search for the Realtemp and coretemp thread.... I have no clue which one is correct so I alter coretemp at 100°C Tjcasemax to be somewhere in the middle....

I think OCCT loads the CPU more but it's test is more limited run in time : 1 or 2 hours unless you select infinite...I don't like peeps doing 24hours plus prime... as it continues it's stress test even when one or more cores (quad) fail... OCCT aborts in that case... I run prime for an hour or 2max (small FFT's for CPU test) cool down... OCCT blend test and then it's off to folding@home... if that passes overnite I'm pretty happy... 3D stability is another thing

Use Real Temp for 45nm CPU's and do the calibration test when it is idle to get better (real) temps.
RT is showing correct Tj.Max (95°) so you can set it in CT at 95° and you'll get the same temps as Real Temp showing you.

    Q813A199

Found I had to keep vcore above 1.3v under load to hit 4.0 stable. My board has some bad vdrop/droop, so I think it was around 1.365 in bios to hit 1.344 idle and 1.312 load. Will try to push it higher sometime, but I can't stand listening to the fan on my OCZ vendetta on high. It does a good job on low setting for a 92mm hsf, but it is way too loud on high. I'll be getting a quieter fan soon enough, and I will see how far I can push it on air.

edit- signature didn't show so here is my specs:

I am in the process of reviewing the vendetta 1 and 2 for OCZ

Basically my way of testing was to see HOW far I could overclock the 8500 wolfdale until the full load temps (used realtemp) go into the danger zone.

    Vendetta 1= 4.22 gigs
    Vendetta 2 -4.34 gigs

Agreed Vendetta 1 gives you headaches after a while===OUUUUUUUCH

    oh and...............

    8500 WOLFIE on water =

This is in DFI's budget x48 Dk board

Bit dissapointed on the amount of cpu volts used, but shrugs on a 4 phase=hmmmmmm

    VTT 1.2
My temps never read below 36c as far as I can see. While at 3.6Ghz and 1.52v full load the temps are in the mid 40's, and it was rock solid stable for a month and a half.

1.325v setting in the bios at 9x450 (1.280v full load) was the first I got that let prime95 run for more than 90 minutes stable. After a while at this setting I'm expecting it to likely need a couple bumps up to stay stable more or less permanently.

Also, I have a 120mm fan on the Ultima 90 and it is locked at 1500 RPM, so the air cooling is helping those temps somewhat as well I think.

Can anyone explain why in some cases an OC will will work at a lower vcore when using lower multipliers as opposed to the stock x9 of a e8400 ?

There are variables, such as PSU and MB, but ultimately, the batch (production) determines how good the CPU is.

Normally it's the reverse... a higher multi with a lower FSB to achieve the same final speed should be obtained with less Vcore...

    Eg my Qx9650 at 3.6Ghz :

    9 x 400 : 1.13
    8 x 450 : 1.21

    eg my Qx9650 at 4.ghz :

    10 x 400 : 1.25
    8 x 500 : 1.35

Agreed, it would be sweet to have an unlocked E8400/E8500. Did I hear (read) correctly, there is an E8600 10x coming out? If so, that will be a train I want to board.

Yep E8600 is on the way, there's an ES test already in the Intel section together with a Biostar mobo... will be easier on some to get eg 10 x 400 stable on some mobo/ram combos....

Well I was doing some testing trying to find a good daily clock which revealed some weird results on my end.

    9 x 433 (1733fsb) using 1.296 load = orthos fail at 3min 51sec

    8.5 x 459 (1837fsb) using 1.296load = orthos stable for 2hrs 30min ( I stopped)

Could well be ram limitation here, which mobo ram combo ?

i checked that too and in my case it also proved to be true, with the same voltage i could get the same frequency but with a higher fsb and the mutiplier as in that case set to 8.5 i have a 2 gb Corsair XMS2 6400 cl4 kit.

    What box to open?
Q807 same one I have in use too, its ok ~1,33v 4,0Ghz but im interesting how good is Q813?

thank you leeghoofd, but as I'm very happy with my Q807A367 , stable Occt priority normal on cpu 1h for 1.38vcore(CPU-Z & Occt readings 1.4 vcore bios) for 525x8, with a 1.2 VID(CPU-Z v1.45 reads 1.176v) I stopped the search on that CPU.

I'd rahter find some "perfect" memory for my Evo MB... which looks very difficult to manage to me, as I want good bandwicht I found these ddr3, does any one think they will be good enough?
