Thanks I have no idea if it helps before vs after, just playing with the board before I install. I have some testing I'm trying to wrap up before I put the board in, so I figured now is the time to tinker.

Maybe I'll make a second bolt on plate to transfer heat from the CPL chips on over to the mosfet sink.

    Thanks for sharing

Guess mine get way hotter cause I'm using watercooling with just a small 60mm fan on the VRM heatsink.
Even with the fan on the heatsink, 'System' temperature gets around 48C is SG when fully loaded. Please note that ambient temperature is around 28C in my room.

Flashed to 6/9 beta bios and it has improved 7-7-7-x memory clocking

I managed to complete both single Super Pi 32M and dual Super Pi 32M via HyperPi gui wrapper app @934Mhz 7-7-7-18 1T at 2.15v again DRAM Default Skew model 3 helped stabilize my Micron D9 IC based 2x1GB OCZ PC3-14400 Platinum kit along with a slight adjustment for DIMM 4 Clock fine delay changing it from Current 462ps to 22 DEG 550ps with a Fine Delay Step Degree value of 25ps (22x25ps = 550ps)

I was board so I decieded to change the strap on the NB from 400 to 333 and running the ram at 480 instead of 400.

this is the old one at 1:1

this is the new one. I wasn't expecting that large of a boost.

    2x 512MB HIS IceQ 3 Turbo HD3850 Crossfire

Now that I have a better understand of how memory works on this motherboard, time to fully load up the motherboard with 2x 512MB HIS IceQ3 Turbo HD3850 in Crossfire.

    More photos here.

    Notes:
    • As you can see the PCI-E slot spacing required DFI to include with their accessories a longer Crossfire bridge connector cable.
    • There's still ample room to reach the the power and reset connectors even with double slot with video card coolers
    • The fan header connector near the 1st set of SATA ports is still accessible as well
    • You need to install the crossfire connector bridge on the other connectors pictured here and not like above photo.

    System specs

When crossfire connector bridge is installed in wrong connector slots you see the following (click image for full version):

When crossfire connector bridge is correctly installed:

    Results (without LOD tweaks):

    E8500 @9x467FSB = 4203Mhz
    2x512MB HD3850 CF stock @715/909

    E8500 @9x467FSB = 4203Mhz
    2x512MB HD3850 CF @810/999

First time using Cat 8.5 drivers, so not sure why I can't clock my HIS HD3850 CF setup past 810Mhz GPU core, as both rivatuner 2.09 and GPUZ report 810mhz GPU even though I set GPU to 815mhz or 820mhz (resulted in same score as 810mhz) ?

How does this board handle with larger graphics cards? I read a review at newegg that said the DIMM slots or that small heatsink by the DIMM slots gets in the way. Sure there is another slot, but what if you want to run 2 graphics cards? Any one have experience with that?

which board X48-T2R or X48-T3RS ? my X48-T3RS removing memory doesn't need removing video card in PCI-E slot closest to cpu socket (PCI-E 1 labeled)

DFI UT X48-T3RS spaced both x16 slots differently from X48-T2R

Thanks for those pics. This would be for a T2R. I am waiting on a 4870 which seems a bit longer but hopefully will still fit. Thanks all!

use the middle slot, since u dont have xfire u dont need to top slot to be populated, it will help with NB temps too

X2. Helps out TREMENDOUSLY with NB temps since I can now add a fan to the NB HS with my TRUE mounted vertically.

No can do, I have my pci-e SCSI Raid card in the middle slot. NB temps are no worries anyhow as I have a block on it and temps never exceed 20C. I keep my water at around 50F.

I still get the problem in the bios and at the boot menu. The other problem I'm having is my areca 1280ML will not work in the middle slot without the system locking or the card hanging at the bios screen. it works great in the 4x pci-e slot but only at 4x and not 8x . It also worked great in my asus Maximus Formula on the second pci-e 2.0 slot at 8x.

edit: this issue makes me wish I would stuck with the Asus MF

How can I control speed fan in this Motherboard? In Asus you opt for a profile SILENT MODE.

just curious...does crossfire work only in the 1st & 2nd PCIE slots? can it also work on the 2nd & 3rd or 1st & 3rd (with a longer bridge maybe)?
