    * New pics posted down a few replies.

I am really happy with the end results, especially since i have never built a system before or had any prior training for it. here are the system specs

    Intel q9450
    Evga 750i ftw
    Ocz sli 2 x 2gig pc6400 ram
    zalman 9700 led cooler
    Wd 320 gb hd
    Hp dvd burner
Corsair 750tx psu (next time i will definately go modular)
Antec 900 case (of course duh lol)
    Evga 8800 gts 512 (g92)
    Scythe Kaze master fan controller.
    And the rest, fans ect.

In total i have 7 fans going plsu the cpu cooler. Running vista ultimate 64bit sp1. Was getting bsod with 4 gig installed before i upgraded to sp1. Running like a champ. Played Age of conan with all maxed except for aa. running that at 4x for now.

I want to thank everyone here for posting their work and giving me so many ideas. Wanted to do more but for it being the first time decided to hold off a bit on stuff.

hoping to start my build this weekend

Hi guys. Great thread, I was looking for some 900 ideas and hit this thread a few days ago...great ideas and info. Would have posted sooner but just got approved by admin.

I am waiting on a freelance check to get here then its time to start my build. I have my 900 bought and waiting in my living room for the rest of my stuff to get bought...here is the plan:

    Antec Nine Hundred
BIOSTAR TPower N750 AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI
    AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor
COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro RS-650-ACAA-A1 650W ATX
    PALiT NE/960TSX0252 GeForce 9600GT SONIC 512MB 256-bit GDDR3
    Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA
    DVD RW LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner
    heatsink and fan (TBD)
    TV Tuner
    RAM 2x (OCZ Reaper HPC 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM 1066 (PC2 8500)(4gigs total)
    19-20 inch LCD Monitor

Any thoughts on this setup? I am building again for the first time in ages, and have just been trying to get my head around everything new.

Also a ? related to the 900 case, anyone have a suggestion on a heatsink and fan that will fit in the case and also keep my Phenom 9850 cool even if I overclock it bit?

Thanks in advance, I will post pics once I get things done.

Well here's my H20 Antec Nine Hundred - not the cleanest as the other PC's I've seen on here but it was tough working with the 900 and trying to make everything fit nicely.

Videos on my youtube channel (link in sig).

    Specs:
    Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz 400x9 1.392v (Bench at 4GHz 1.6v)
    4GB Patriot DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 2.2v
ASUS Maximus Formula SE Flashed to Rampage NB Watercooled
    2x ATi 3870 CrossFired 860/1350 Watercooled
    WD Raptor 150B 10,000RPM
    WD 300GB 7200RPM
    Swiftech H20-220 kit
    Vista Ultimate x64
And of course, the Antec Nine Hundred:

As I said, not the cleanest but the 900 was a challenge to work because it's quite small to fit a full size watercooling system inside.

I plan on getting a PC-P80 and a couple 4870X2's when they're released, with some other goodies as well.

welcome to the forum! This should prove to be a great thread to you.

I would if I were you drop that 9600GT and maybe get a 8800GT. Also look into the Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme. It mounts nicely in the 900 and serves great. Here is a shot of what it looks like in mine:

Hey thanks for the fan suggestion...I wanna make sure i can get the side shut.

I know the 8800GT is a step up from the 9600GT, but the Palit comes overclocked a bit and the main reason I am leaning towards it is the dedicated hdmi out. I plan to use this more for a media center setup with the ability to game when I want to. So far I haven't found a 8800GT with the hdmi output built-in. I really want the audio and video to run off one cable...and I haven't found a clear answer if the hdmi adapter caries audio.

Affirmative. I swapped those ugly ass feet with black rubber ones from mnpctech. They look really nice. I also added a 40mm x 10mm RED LED fan to my NB, and a Zalman GV1000 to cool my 8800GTS (RED LED as well).

I do not have a digital camera, so I will take pictures and post them when I can borrow one from a friend.

Ok guys, I have an Antec Nine Hundred which is pretty obvious. I am in the process of painting the case flat black.... What are the procedures I take before I paint, and what tools do I need?

    1. Wet sand with 400 grit wet/dry, use a bit of dish soap when you do and always go in one direction.
    2. Spray 2 light, even coats of self etching primer (same brand preferably as paint) and wet sand with 600 grit after you let it dry for at least 2 hours. This step is imperative... if you want your paint to stay on you must use self etching primer.
    3. For inside of the case (since not many people see it) you can get away with skipping high build primer and just go straight to the paint after self etching primer. So make sure you do nice, light and even coats with the paint. No more than three coats and make sure you hold that can 6 inches away.

If you want a gloss finish use high gloss but if you want it flat much like the outside of the Antec 900 already is flat black will do just fine.

There you have a nice easy guide to painting the inside of the case.

If anyone wants details on how I specifically painted the outside I'll re-post.

    Small guide to painting outside:

    1. Remove the top fan mount, drive cages (disassemble them so you can paint metals) and remove the side window plastic and intake mount.
    2. Wet sand all metals on the case with 180 grit (a bit of soap). This will take the paint off very quickly. Only use 180 on painted surface. Once it's down to metal immediately go to 400 grit and start working on smoothing the surface. Use 400 grit for the rest of the non-painted surfaces.
    3. For the plastic use scotch brite pad to scuff the surface up.
    4. Time to use self etching primer. This will give a super chemical adhesion to the rest of the paints/primers. SEM makes a good one.
    5. Plastic don't use self etching. Just use plastic adhesion promoter.
    6. Onto the high build primer. Use 2-3 coats. Spray lightly but evenly. I haven't tried to use it on the plastic but next project I'm going to make the gamble.
    7. Once the High build is dry wet sand with lot's of mildly soapy water in one direction with 600 grit. Do this until surface is smooth. Try to use a sanding block.
    8. Onto the base coat...
    9. Whatever you decide to do whether it be a Candy, pearl or other job you should use some sort of top coat... found here for FYI: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3Den%26sa%3DN
    10. Read the instructions on the can for this one. It's tricky. It didn't go so well for me but I did learn a lot. They say you can do some wet sanding with 1000/1500/2000 grit but it really take a lot of time and know how. In 6 months after the cure you can also do some regular car buffing to it to get the shine really out. However it should shine right away. It didn't really shine for me how I wanted it but like I said it was a learning experience.

I have pics posted pages back but here are a refresher to new Antec posters.

I suppose you can... I just would hate to see it flake. If it's not going to be to noticeable than I would do it... maybe put some rubber grommets around the edges.

    ANNNDDDD HOW!
Read a few posts up, Hughyhunter posted a great procedure.

As far as cutting goes, I used a dremel. I used a drill bit to drill a hole then used a multipurpose bit to cut out around the rectangle sized holes I had marked. If you dont have a dremel they are very cheap and serve for many uses.
