    I can't believe the 4850 is so long!

    I would have assumed it would be rather short compared to most modern cards.

    AMD Radeon HD 4850

    AMD Radeon HD 4850 was scheduled to be launched next week. According to the latest information we just received, it is said that it will be postponed to 24th or 25th of this month. It is unclear why the sudden decision to change the dates.

    Anyway, here are the 'official' picture and specifications of the card. On the next page are information about the HD 4870.

    According to the slides received, this card will have800 unified stream processors. 256 bits memory width with GDDR3. It supports DX10.1 and SM 4.1. There will be an improved unified video decoder. The HDMI comes with 7.1 HD audio and it supports advance PowerPlay.

    The GPU clocks at 625MHz and memory will be 512MB of GDDR3 at 1GHz.

    AMD Radeon HD 4870 is also scheduled to be launched on the 24th or 25th of this month.

    buit the possibility of executing 800 shading operations simultaineasly (ideally) can mean quite a lot with upcoming CUDA support (physx etx..) and new folding clients.. (hope thats correct lol)

    I believe it's quite difficult to have the same 800shaders working at the same time, some of them depend on one another, don't they?

    That last part is not completely true as each of those 800 shaders is just as capable as the shaders on G80 for example. On G200 this has been changed however so I'm not sure how that works out. But RV770 truly has 800 shaders and G80 has 128, G200 has 240 but these differ a little form G80 as there are some rumors of the fixed MUL unit and stuff like that. Oh well, we will only know until they are all released.
