I think I need another bios. Iread the alot ppl got this problem with this version of bios. Whats the easiest and quickest way to flash the bios?

Burn the bios to CD using another computer, then if u can get into the bios goto the ez update section. You should see your new bios on the CD then update. Use a different CPU if u can b/c u dont want it to freeze during the update.

whats kinda temperatures are you getting on the NB and SB? because from past experience I had a problem like this and it was because my motherboard was overheating and by resitting the heatsink on the motherboard it helped to fix this problem, so it might be worth quickly checking the temperatures in the bios and see if they are sky high, and that would be your problem.

I recommend cleaning and adding AS5 to the heatsink assembly on every new board. What Asus provided was of poor to terrible quality.

Easy to remove with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver, cleaned with acetone and Q-Tips, and addition of AS5 makes all the difference.

Kind of like the settings, this board is more of a do-it-yourself project than standard boards.

You shouldn't have all these problems. Why don't you return this mobo where you bought it and let them make it work?
You may also try ASUS support for this problem. It is the same link we saw a few posts earlier.

Tbh it would be quicker to resit the heatsink and add a fan to it, safe temps for the nb range from 55-62c, haven't seen anything lower than 55c so if you can get it lower, that would be great. But if you can keep the temps lower than 62c you shouldn't have any problems, reason its freezing is because the temperatures are getting to high and the motherboard cant take it, but if you do RMA it, it would still be best when you get a new board to resit the heatsink and remove the asus thermal paste and add your own thermal paste but make sure it isn't conductive(I use Ocz freeze and it isn't conductive) and also if your airflow isn't so great put a fan on the heatsink, that should help.

Edit: also a quick way of getting a new motherboard is to buy the same motherboard again and put your old one in the box and return it, but make sure yours looks new! xD
p.s very sleepy so hope it reads well

    1) 30 minutes to pull the heatsink assembly, clean and apply AS5, and remount it
    2) 6+ weeks for RMA

Temperatures of 70+ on a passive cooled northbridge are "normal" on this board. If possible, try cooling it with a fan.
I had to cool mine with a 80mm fan in order to get up to 450 or 500 FSB, if I'd run it passive it would just shutdown after a couple of minutes (hitting the 90+ protection on the NB isn't funny).
As already suggested; replacing the original white paste on the board with some better quality thermal paste (Like AS5) will usually drop the temperatures a bit as well.
I'm about to watercool one of my boards, simply because I have the feeling that it's not going to enjoy the high temperatures this summer.

    About your CPU problem:
Have you tried bumping up the CPU PPL Voltage to 1.6V and the CPU VTT voltage to 1.30-1.40 yet?
(you might want to try and give the NB a bit more as well, but active cooling will definately be needed if you do)
I've got a Q9550 on my second striker II and the damn thing refused to boot or crash somewhere along the POST/BIOS or the OS load until I bumped up the voltages to 1.58V / 1.34V
It kind of annoys me that my quadcore needs the same PLL/VTT voltages to run @stock as my Dualcore needs to run at 500FSB.

Bios 1303 should work just fine for your CPU.
I can't recommend flashing your BIOS when your system is unstable, the last thing you want to do is kill the board by corrupting the BIOS at a possible crash.

RMA takes a long time and you will probably end up with a same system.
I do not believe that your mobo is defective.
Either ask for a refund or try to make it work.
You just need to put a 5cm fan on the northbridge.
Install only 1GB dimm, enter BIOS, set NB volts at 1.36 and Dimm volts at 2.1. Install Windows, with all updates and the latest service pack.
Shut down. Now you may connect everything else.
I think this is going to work for you.

My NB idles at 68-70 with AS5 and a small fan. I havent had any issues. Not sure what it is under load but i can play any game for hours with no freezes/lockups or any issues to speak of. This is my most problem free gaming rig as of yet. Now that i took my ram fans off, i have a little more room to put a better fan on the NB. My point is....... 70c on the NB shouldn't be locking it up.

With regard to the video playback issue and those people who have email asus support about it, have you had any replies?

Because i email them a couple of days ago and they sent me through the 1305 bios. Has anyone else played with this and had any luck?

I already tried to contact Asus about two BIOS issues I'm having.

My RAID controller: The striker II refuses to boot from it (it work in all my other systems).
Putting a bootable DVD/CD as primairy boot and just letting it ignore that boot device and skip to the raid controller as secondary device works without a problem.
At the moment I'm booting from a bootable USB stick to avoid the problem.
All I want from Asus is a proper BIOS with the ability to boot from my Highpoint controller.

Akso contacted them about the corruption issues; watching a movie means I have to reboot the system and run everything on stock settings, the corruption happens less often for me that way. Watching a movie at overclocked settings means I'm getting corruption for sure as it seems to happen way more often at a higher FSB.

    Asus did reply to message:

At this moment there is not an bios update available, please check the website at a regular base. If have another link for you with lots of information www.asustreiber.de.
I don't have any issues with reading german, however, this site is mainly about laptops and contains a link to a site with all the asus drivers, so I don't really see the connection with my own problems.

So yeah, big for Asus support there.

Just updated the BIOS to 1305.

Resetting your CMOS and configuring all settings manually is required for proper operation. Right after the flash my system refused to boot @ OC settings, clearing CMOS and using my OC profiles also resulted in a system shutdown. I configured every setting manually again which resulted in a proper POST sequence.

Some nice things about this BIOS:
    - NB/SB overheat protection went up to a variable setting from 80 - 110 degrees!
    - The memory timings tab shows some additional info, possibly the SPD table, but mine seems a little messed up (most likely due to the fact that I already had the system running at PC9600 speeds when I checked on the memory table)

When I booted Vista after the BIOS update it came up with a ton of new PCI-PCI bridges and all my PCI-e devices, so far, it's looking good.
Going to start a video marathon right now to check if the corruption bug has been fixed or not. I'll check back on the system in a couple of hours and report on it's status.

RapidBullSh**Share cats. With two of us trying to see the *#^%*&% cats, we still didn't after like 12 tries, and maxed out tries trying to get the file. They could make it a little easier.
