From what I've seen the FSB's are all about the same, its the amount of volts required to acheive them that differs. If you can hit say 450 on auto, then chances are you can hit 500 @ the max of 1.71V. Runawayprisoner has had more than one and refers to some requiring more volts than others @ certain speeds. I too want 450-475FSB with low volts for 24/7 operation and don't care what volts it takes 495+ as long as it will. If you need the full 1.71v just to get 475 stable then 500 won't be likely. Once I find one that can hit 450 on auto and +500 @1.71v then I'm gonna keep it and change the northbridge cooling. They're $154 here in Texas. I've only tried one thus far, the next one will be tried this weekend.

What do you suggest for NB? I was thinking of simply adding a cheap 40mm fan...
I'd be fine with basically any board that gets 475 on air... The problem is that I'm not sure about my RAM...
It's running at 916MHz 6-6-6-18... I can't test higher so that could always be a limit... Plus it's heatspreaderless so I'm worried giving it more than 1.9v.

My P5K-DLX kicked the can earlier today running same settings its been running 24/7 for nearly 2 weeks.
Hope it didnt take my X3350 with it
All I have for a backup board is an Asrock 775Dual-VSTA. X3350 wont post on it![]()
All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
That's my Q9450, mounted on Gigabyte EX38-DQ6, cooled by Scythe Zipang.
Vcore setup in bios 1,3125.
V Fsb +0,20 volts.
V Nb +0,20 volts.
V Dram +0.20 volts.
Memory 4x1Gb Crucial BallistiX Tracer with Led latency 4.4.4.12 @ 900 Mhz (1/1 Dram/Fsb)
Look's it have a FSB wall around 460 mhz, I will try more, with more voltage on Vfsb and VNb later
Enjoy it.
A question, CoreTemp V 098.B1 shows 1,0875 VID, and Coretemp 099 shows 1,20 VID, wich is real?

The second reading is correct, so 1.200V.
You can also use realtemp to check the VID of your cpu.

Nemesis, is it safe to leave the motherboard voltage settings on auto?
I was under the impression that the boards can over compensate, over-volting some components unnecassarily?

I haven't had any bad expirences with auto. It typically would set voltages too low and I would have to manually set them higher to get stable. Only the VTT & North Bridge voltages need increasing on this board as you go up in FSB. The PLL seems to overvolt regardless of what you set. 1.52v showed 1.6v+ in windows.

I have two Xeons X3350 with the same WK/batch. One of them has the vid of 1.2V and the second one 1.2375. The second one clocks a bit better and is also a bit cooler. vid itself doesn't matter in terms of the CPU's overclockability. If it did, then QX9770 would be the worst clocker as it has the highest vid in most cases (1.275V in my case). So just OC and you'll see what your babe is able to do.

hey guys, just booted my q9450 @ 3.8
heres what im using
Asus P5E-VM HDMI, 2x 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800, q9450
this is what concerns me, the 4th core temp sensor doesnt
work.. i havent reseat the CPU yet, since i just installed
everything, so ill try that tomorrow but it concerns me much
has anyone ever have this issue? and can it be fixed
i know this doesnt belong here but seems like when i change
some things in the bios it doesnt directly apply.. like my ram
speed and timing are manually set but seem to be automatically
set when booted..
thanks in advanced![]()
Can you get it stable? I can boot my xeon 3350 at 3.7 just fine with extreme voltage on the NB. I can`t get it to prime for more then a few minutes before freezing though. Stable easily on a P35 board of my mate though. (And more then 3.7 actually) Booting doesn`t say much when it crashes all the time.![]()
