The entire 50% number was ambiguous anyways - you could read it as shaders perform 50% better or overall performance is 50% better than the previous generation cards as a whole.

And anyways, G92 cards have really high shader clocks already so that'll make up for 50% shader improvement anyways - in fact, nearly 40-50% faster on G92 than the 1296 stock clock

G92b is a simple shrink of G92 nothing more nothing less.
    There isn´t any arquitectural changes.

    The new arquitecture is GTX 260/280. G92b = G92 but in 55nm.

Sweet. Slower than the 3870... and no shader clock. I assume this means it is the same as the core again? Or is it in a fixed ratio with the core, so if you increase/decrease the core it will increase/decrease proportionally?

so core clock difference = 20%, and gains on the 4870 are rumored to be at best 30% faster than the 4850........
My prediction: GDDR5 Memory bandwidth is not going to make much of a difference, and when it does (very high res, aa, af ), the 512MB buffer on the initial 4870 cards are going to choke. Maybe its better to wait for the 1GB variants if you are set on the 4870

Hmmm... I was hearing anywhere from 20-50% faster than 4850, since 4850 roughly is equal to a 9800GTX.

Remember how we told you that Eastern sources claimed that RV770 has 800 shader processors, not just 480 shader processors? When we look at the slide presented to us by a reliable source, we can only conclude that they were right. AMD evidently planted the stories of 480 shader processors (it's not uncommon for AMD/ATI to plant stuff). The slide tells us three things about both Radeon HD 4850 and 4870. First of all that they both sport a whopping 800 shader processors, but also the clock frequencies and they're individual calculation capacity measured in FLOPS. We've already told you that Radeon HD 4850 will launch at 625MHz and that AMD will clock the 4870 at at least 100MHz more, the slide says 750MHz.

Each shader shader unit is capable of 2 FLOPS, and since we now have 800 units, this means that Radeon HD 4850 with its 625MHz will hit exactly 1TFLOPS. That should explain why AMD/ATI chose that specific frequency. Radeon HD 4870 with its 750MHz core will have 20% more processing power available and hits 1.2TFLOPS. A decent quad-core processor can do up to 100GFLOPS. This is certainly a slap in NVIDIA's face. AMD's mainstream chip can do more FLOPS than NVIDIA enthusiast chips, and AMD's coming high-end chips will pack twice the FLOPS...
not sure if its old?? and if its true or not ... for that matter heh.. hopefully

I have never seen that slide before and it does have the confirmed clockspeeds.
    Seems legit to me.

Where did u get this info? Of cause rv770 has a higher clockdelta for the shaders, like rv670 had, but thats no shaderdomaine.

lol, I've had it too with them, all that terrible performance that you get, it's just no good.[/Sarcasm]

Would be nice to get competition, I'll wait.

Wow so all this time all along, 800 SP's was for real? No wonder the actual specs of the card were hidden for so long...

If true, ATI is going to kick Nvidia right in the nads.

But I'm still skeptical about those numbers.

Damn that 4850 looks s appealing right now. Maybe some AIB could make 1GB version of it. Sapphire with a VaporX cooler...

    pls....
Seems we made our greatest error when we named it at the start

    Source?

Cause that's the most recent legit-looking slide, and if people under NDA and giving hints were saying that the core clocks were wrong and those are the right clocks (and that they hit 1TFp), you better have a good alternative source...
