Unfortunately for your confidence in yourself is dead wrong, smart guardian is never right in fact its just reading you the skewed bios temp that you see in of health stats. Core temp is most probably correct thus I suggest you either lower your overclock or fix the mount on your heatsink. Best of luck with it

yes smart guardian is very off and just reading the lame bios temps, I found Real_Temp 2.5 to be the most accurate, as it reads the same as speed fan and core temp reads 10 degrees hotter, for 1.34 volts I dont think the cpu is gonna idle on 56 degrees

Wee, I'm joining the LT X38 club. Haven't put it in the system yet, but it is a really, really ugly board.

Been trying to see how far I can push my Q6600, and it seems like everytime i change the voltage settings it wont boot.

Havent change the fsb/multi/ram settings at all and simply applied more voltage but it just stalls, any ideas why?

last night i think to give a try my lucky E2140 on LP LT X48, but before it, i tried on IP35PRO and it can easyly touch 500X8 on air with big thyphoon and it still can bench..

the problem is when i tried with LP LT X48 it becames so hot everywhere especially CPU, not like IP35PRO, is it because of the digital PWM ???, coz my friend said yes, board with the digital PWM usely can go really hot not like analog PWM..

    Spraypaint, gigabut...

Well, here I am, finally overclocking. I had some trouble getting started because, like an idiot, I installed Windows while the controller was in IDE mode. I figured out how to install the driver without reinstalling Windows, though. Anyhow...

I started off by bumping up the voltages, loosening the timings, and then turning down the insanely loud NB fan I put on.

Next step was to do some simple FSB overclocking, 400 MHz x6 for 2.4 GHz. 1M Pi in 24s.

All was well, surprisingly easy. Did some more tweaking, eventually crapped out while trying to run 1199 MHz on the RAM, I didn't supply enough voltage to it. These are Ballistix, so I don't want to go over 2.15V for fear of killing them. At this point, I realized the sticks were pretty damn hot, so I hung a 120mm fan above them with some fancy zipties.

Now I'm back up at 525 MHz x7 for 3.68 GHz 1:1 (1051 MHz). Freaking surprisingly easy, my 680i barely showed me FSBs that high, let alone doing them into Windows -- and I've only just begun. Though I have my doubts about 24/7 stability, still have lots of tweaking to do. Dropped 1M Pi by 10 seconds.

How far will the FSB on this thing go? I'm loving this board already.

Ahh, thanks for the heads up. I suppose I'll have to go DDR3 if I want to get super-duper high FSBs?

I've taken it down to 400x8/1066 mem for now, while I'm out of town for a few days. Also dropped the voltage a bit, so it seems alright. I'll continue tweaking on Tuesday, after I pop in the new radiator.

I was going to get the much cheaper DS3R, but I'm glad I got the DFI. Still can't get over the name gigabut.

I hadn't even thought of CAS3, I'll try that on Tuesday as well. I'm still stuck in my 680i mindset, it wouldn't do much below CAS 4 stable.

    Hi all.
This problem is related only on Lt X38?
because i know a user with an Lt X48 and a 3870x2 and no problems at all...
Loving this board...unfortunately i don't have much free time to "dessicate" it all
Do you recommend the last official bios over the 28/11/07 (first)?? i never had any problem with this one but on my holidays i'll do more tweaking to reach the 4,5Ghz meta on air

As long as this thread is I am sure these questions have been answered(well I know it has but I was hoping for a picture maybe too )...

Does the TRUE fit vertically without having to bend the northbridge heatsink? How about the Noctua NH-U12P?

I'm having such a pain in the arse time as I'm trying to find out if either of these with fit in a Lian Li PC-A77 vertically also as it has an annoying harddrive/psu holder that is part of the horizontal support beam almost literally above the motherboard

Why do I pick the most troublesome combinations of hardware? This is what I get for waiting to upgrade from socket A I'm getting very tired after a month of looking around. I did manage barton 2500+ from 166 to 250fsb though I just don't feel like loud machines and bending and cutting are my thing anymore...I want a simple build I can tinker with. I have no other chip to flash with so I skipped p35 for x38. Abit ix38 quad gt sucks so...

    I was set at

    e8400
    dfi LP lt x38
    vista x64
    2x2gb g.skill ddr2-1000
    lian li pc-a77b
    evga 9800gtx
    corsair tx750
    wd 640
    random burner

    I guess I need more
