look all I'm saying is that we still have nothing legit to base our thoughts on, and that's starting to bother me especially since launch is roughly 2 weeks away now. And quite frankly I'd like to try to keep this thread on topic as much as I can, I see no reason why we shouldn't be able to keep a legit discussion on the 4k series cards

Because nothing wants to leak out. We've seen scores but without specs it's really hard to justify any of them.

Typical AMD BS. I swear, they're totally anal when it comes to any type of real benchmarks or final numbers for a product.

Any idea what other cards score for Performance? I saw 4850 scores P4085 at http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...ance/page9.asp

But that's on a 3.2 Quad

If VR-Zone could only post the CPU results as well, we could make a comparison. I don't know why they didn't include it.

It's not even clear whether there are indeed 480 SPs in RV770.

I doubt AF was on for the test because Performance mode in 3dmark Vantage is trilinear - it does beat the 3850 by ~50% pretty much by that score though it seems

If Vantage sets Trilinear, wouldn't CCC's AF override it?

CCC always did that for me when I had an 2900XT. I didn't test with Vantage or 06, but for games it does that.

AF was always weaker in ATI GCs than nVidia's, although this one seems pretty good to me, so no "HQ Marketing" AF needed

Ever since the 2900, all AF is HQ.

No LQ setting, that is.

And no, nVidia only exceeded ATI in AF after the 8 series. One thing a lot of people bought X1900s were the AF quality (same on 2k and 3k, but nV has angle independent filtering now)

so going by those scores looks like the card will be 50-60% faster than the HD3850 however the 4850 is overclocked and the CPU is unknown. but looks to be around the predicted performance. now we only need to wait for some full reviews to show up
