That SB (SLF-1)block looks good enough for the SB. Will 2 9800GX2 fit with the SLF-1 in place?
You are using a QX9650 right? Try 1800Mhz FSB/1600Mhz RAM (loosen timings) with 8x multiplier and see if that solves anything.
Exactly![]()
Hey guys,
After using Intel boards for the last X amount of years, I'm giving a Nvidia board ago.
I'm using an XFX 790i Ultra, Flashed to P05 bios.
I can't seem to get the in windoz overclocking pogram to work. If I change the fsb by 1mhz it hard locks as I try and set it.
Can someone give me the tips to make this thing work.
Also, is there any other programs that will change the fsb on 790i boards ?
I need an in windoz program as my cpu as a rule wont boot much over 5.6Ghz, but will run much faster than that in windoz.
This is what I see, when I try and change the fsb.

I've downloaded and installed latest nForce System Tools but I don't have "System Update" voice, and under performance settings I've (translating from Italian to English):
- Device Settings
- Dynamic BIOS access (or something like this, but I can't update BIOS by control panel)
- View system information
- Profile polices
anyway that's my device settings screen not oc
so anyone can help me to find a good settings about my q6600?
Well for some reason, I dont have my ESA section anymore even though I have the Silverstone Commander ESA edition.
I remember in my first windows installation I did on this pc I had the ESA section which let me upgrade the Commander Firmware etc, now I dont have it anymore for some reason :S I think is all in the System tools thing, I remember it installed 3 things that time, now it only installs 1 thing called Performance.
Anybody knows how to fix this? I still have control over the case though
Link-> http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/5...anomoreaq8.png
EDIT: FIXED!!!, just go to C:/nvidia/system tools/ntune
Install the system monitor and system upgrade and thats it! ESA Options back to ntune!!!![]()

"Hi Alex, Your 790i motherboard has a continuation of your warranty as long as you own it, but as soon as another user buys the motherboard it unfortunately is no longer covered under warranty. Here is a response which I received in a personal email AFTER my motherboard was sold on ebay. My respect to EVGA went down to nowhere, they don't want to support their own sealed product justs because I don't want to spend more time on it - nor they want to take it back and give a refund. It means there is no second market for unfinished EVGA products, unless someone wants to handle their problems by himself - there is only a TRASH second market for EVGA, even for brand new sealed products. Sales of EVGA are "FINAL", they represent "a one way road".
I am going to report this situation to FTC and BBB, it is a ridiculous sales policy for the USA.
I LOVE COSTCO!!!

if the guy who bought it needed to get the board covered under warranty then why not just get him to send you the board then you send it to evga? they're not going to know the difference are they.. end of the day the warranty is tied to the board and the invoice from where you purchased, as soon as you sell it second hand its obviously not going to be covered under warranty and even worse if you register the product, its not like your going to hand over the invoice to the new buyer so he could get in touch with evga for RMA if its got your details all over it.

eVGA is a great company, especially for support, no other company is as fast as getting your product changed, or helping you resolve your issue, recently CHRIS B. from eVGA helped me out after having a couple of bad boards, a new board was shipped out friday so ill get a new one on monday, its been tested i have been told with my memory so i should have no issues, my last board was stuck on C3....... except for some foolish kid named HUGO who was very disrespectful.

I have to agree GAR, at least as far as my own experience goes! I've been dealing with them for almost 5 years and I truely havn't had a single complaint! With that said Andy is also right, I don't know of many (if any) that will warrenty a product to a second/third/fourth party despite what the product is. If you or somebody you sold your board to needed RMA assistance just have the original owner get it sorted, as Andy said that board is tied to the original owner via Registration. I could be wrong here but I'm pretty sure evGA cleary states that warrenty coverage is only available for original owner? In anycase I hope your able to get your situation sorted as having a bunk motherboard stinks!

I've also tryed to oc at 3.6GHz with some settings changes, but after an hour of strees test appears a blue window "page fault in nonpaged area" and I must format my hd to reset windows.. does anyone have a problem like this?
Is it me or do the evga 790i boards have faulty sensors when the 5v and 12v are displayed in occt. Everyones (including mine) occt screenshot shows the 5v being very low or fluctuating.

Hi! All
I've had enough - I have been more or less stable for the last week or so- but as usual this board has a mind of it's own
on a warm reboot reboot the hard disk light on the mb would come on and stay on and I would need to power off manually
on booting up the bios would say "last post interupted please run setup and load defaults" and my memory timings would have changed from 2T to 1T which I know this board won't boot up with any way, at least it would not for me at any time
I go in to bios and reload my oc profile and save and then it would boot up again
I have cleared the cmos and reflashed with 0704 with awdflash and still no good
on taking the board apart to put it away in to its box I noticed there was some artic silver had fallen in to the cpu socket and the pins looked damaged, as a result this may be causing my issues, I don't know
it's something to look out for as I was swapping my cpu in and out between my Maximus Extreme and SIIE
like you all I have spent hours, days and weeks to get this board working, for every step forward you take, you end up taking 2 back
i blame Nvidia and not Asus, Nvidia have a lot to answer for in releasing this half baked product and unfortunately Asus and other motherboard manufactures have to try and figure out how to make this crap work
congratulations slim in getting this far and I hope you get there finally - I will be reading this forum to see how all of ye are getting on
I will post my final settings in my signature which had prime95 running for 7 hours - the most I ever got

Guys is the asus 790I a good stable board when stock? im not an oc'er but am looking for a good performer, any info appreciated

with the bios maturing it seems that the striker II is starting to get much better in terms of stability at stock speeds but i have noticed that the board doesnt appear to like 2gb sticks much because of the high density (or at least with my ocz 1600 EB 2x2gb 7-6-6-24 sticks) so it requires a little extra voltage on the NB chip.
i havent really used the board at stock much but before i went away for a couple weeks i had the board overclocked at 3.6ghz with no corruption and it appeared to be stable so i see no reason why running it at stock should cause any problems.
im not going to be biased towards asus since i like their boards but in the other thread about 790i corruption the poll indicates from XS Users:
View Poll Results: did you experience corruptions at very low overclocks or even stock?
Striker 2 XE - no corruption 39 23.64%
EVGA or XFX - no corruption 55 33.33%
Striker 2 XE - corruption problems 46 27.88%
EVGA or XFX - corruption problems 42 25.45%
so it would seem that the evga/xfx boards are more stable running stock than the asus boards but as i said with the latest bioses things are starting to get much better.
Multiple Choice Poll. Voters: 165. You have already voted on this poll

wow, so many defectors. Roger is also selling his S2E(check the "For Sale" section). I hope I have some luck with my replacement that is scheduled to be delivered Wednesday. All I am asking is 4 GHZ with my QX9650 with no stability/corruption problems. I have a very capable QX9650 from the week 39 batch. Hope to get there![]()

Hey tyke
I think we have the same problem as well as HardCase and many others
Are you getting those freezing while watching movies? Cause this issue is around everywhere and Im currently working it out with an NVIDIA technician.
Im getting this issues with 175.16 WHQL, 175.80 BETA and 174.74 BETA
However, when I disable SLI, no problems whatsoever. 100% estable and no corruptions 15 hours estable with 0704
But I miss SLI... which is estable in games anyways![]()

Oh well
Can you try watching a 700mb movie in your SIIE with SLI enabled? I would really like to know if you freeze <5 mins
I would really appreaciate![]()
With SLI enabled, ill get a freeze pretty quick in anything. I must admit, i havnt really watched much on this computer, but when im using the TV tuner it has crashed on occasion with SLI enabled.
However i get no crashes with SLI disabled with TV.
I do however, very rarely id like to point out (maybe half a dozen times...ever), get the "freeze" that happens with SLI enabled in games/TV, when im only running one card. Now, heres the interesting bit, instead of locking down the whole system completely, it just does the freeze thing, for about, 1-2 seconds then resumes, like nothing ever happened.
So it seems my computer can recover from the freeze when only using one card, however, with SLI, it doesnt stand a hope in hell.
