im gonna snap!!! ICH9R drivers / DFI x38 DK t2r wont load!!!

    hey all

tried everything i know how, but they just wont take!

i downloaded all the intel / jmicron drivers from DFI for the x38 dk t2r..

put them all on a USB drive, 32/64bit in diff folders (as to not overwrite any), you name it i (think) i have tried it, even tried a slipstreamed version using vlite, nadda!

i am trying to install Server 2k8 trial... but i want raid on the intel chip...

using browse on the install, it finds the intel ich9r drivers,te jmicron ones i load it, then still says it cant find a device for it, try with the Jmicron.. no go!

from all the reading vista 64bit drivers should work under 2k8...

    what am i missing?

no raid levels, i cant even get Vista 64 to install

okay , calm doqn Mr.G.. step by step

    1. go into bios and turn on RAID from IDE
    2. Reboot and boot from DVD Drive on SATA5 port (jmicron..)
    3. Windows loads its files and then says ' A Required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing, if you have a driver floppy disk, CD / DVD, Or USB Flash Drive, please insert it now"
    4. Reboot, move DVD Drive over to SATA3 (intel port) - same message as above.
    5. Have DFI CD Driver on a USB Drive, i have all x64 Drivers from DFI site for both Intel and JMIcron on the USB Drive
    6. I choose "browse" and find the Driver ICH8R/ICH9R SATA Raid Controller (c:\floppy\ICH9R 64Bit\iastor.ing) Hit next, greenline goes across the bottom a few times, then i get the message "No new devices could be found. Make sure the drivers files are correct and located on the driver installation media"

    argh!!!

    i have 2 x 80G Segate 7200.10 drives plugged into SATA0 / SATA1
    I have 1 x 80G Segate 7200.10 driver plugges into SATA5
LG DVD burner in SATA 4 and also tried in SATA3

help is much appreciated m8!, sorry for lack of info, but after 4 hours of messin with this and it not working (sure due to user stupidy)

    i am aming to have

    2 x 80G drives in Raid 0 on SATA 0 /1
    2 160G drives in Raid 1 on SATA 2/3
    1 x 80G on SATA4
    1 x DVD Bner on SAA5

Relax take a deep breath. you are gonna need to use the sata optical and the stand alone 80GB on the j-micron ports. (the yellow ones, labled sata 7,8). Then plug the others in pairs on the intel ports (green ones). then you need to go into the bios and set intel to raid and j-micron to IDE then re-boot and use ctrl+I during boot to enter the configuration when booting and assign the drives to each array. after that windows install should find the drives properly.

    aahhh, ok.

um, well for starters, i think its not recommended to have ur OS hdd install on the jmicron SATA ports. The performance sucks unfortuneately.

secondly, if ur cd drive is plugged into the jmicron, 7 vista is reading it, then I dont think u need RAID drivers as such to get to the hdd, no?

i dont have 7/8 ports, only 6 4 intel, 2 micron.. i havent seen any options to choose micron one thing and intel the other, my only option is to set as raid, let me try the 2 drives in intel and single and dvd in micron (may have tried it, but lets see!)

i heard the micron only sucks in raid?

why yes it does, but even still, it isnt working just read the paper manual, which really is so just "for all DFI mobos since half these options dont exist in the D version"..lol

OK just read your spec sheet, sorry i posted assuming the board had the same ports as my LP.

So the DK has no J-micron sata only IDE. that leaves the intel to handle all of the sata's .
you will not have much luck using a sata optical drive. try an older IDE drive so it can use the Micron controller. then build the arrays on the intel.

The issue is trying to run JBOD and two types of raid at the same time.......IMO not gonna happen. you need the optical on a seperate controller.

    My suggestions:

1.Buy a cheap raid card to do the "0" array, also an IDE optical drive for installing windows. use the intel sata's for the "1" array using the 160GB drives.

    2. use a floppy that came with the board to installl the drivers when prompted, it only works on usb occasionally on mine when loading windows. nice to have a floppy for emergencies like this.

mm. ok. umm... try re-downloading the latest intel raid drivers; put only the intel drivers on ur usb/floppy.. in the mean time, keep reading that thread.. maybe something else will come up
