I'm still on XP64. I need to get another driver to load Vista 64 so it might be a while.
I booted to 2.550 this morning at 1.2875 which OVs to about 1.296 and I've been running on it all day working it's heart out.
Here are the results of one of my test runs using my ray tracer designed for AMD processors. I still have some artifacts in the mappers and culling but it's starting to produce some striking work.
Sorry Bro Esau, I thieved some deadhead art work for my walls in this virtual world.

Brought to you by the power of a 4 Core AMD Phenom Processor.

i gave phenom 1.52V (on overdrive it says max 1.55V on description) and it booted in 2700mhz no problem...under water it didnt get too hot...55 C full load, but such increase in vLOtage does not justify the increase of speed

anyways, is the architecture of a phenom similar to x2 cause i got an oportunity to swithch 9850BE for 5000+ BE x2, and get some money back

You do know that such high Vcores will kill your CPU? Dont know if it's too late already. I hope it won't degrade now.

    And why would you switch?

hmm was givin my old q6600 1.6V didnt seem to bother it...also why does amd say max 1.55V? and why does it say black edition when it wont OC wortha a damn ...anyways in my experience higher frequency will be able to push my 3870x2 crossfireX setup much better

also i would switch cause i feel cheated by amd, and im trying to get some of the money back...they should be grateful i dont go back to intel, which has even the cheapest piece of crap E2140 cpu ticking at over 3.5 Ghz

Dude, reading your post AMD should be grateful you go back to Intel again.

There have been posts about Intel CPU's degrading as well, Ive no clue what Vcore were used though.

It's called Black Edition because it comes with unlocked multipliers. If you'd look around you actually see quite some Phenoms are hitting nice speeds now. It's just some batches are crap and/or SB600 doesnt play nice together with certain batches. You feel cheated by AMD because yours doesnt OC well (atm?), could be me, but I really fail to read anywhere AMD announcing a guaranteed OC

And I would have thought, as you seem to OC, that Mhz isnt everything. Actually the Phenom is equal to Yorkfield at the same speeds. So you actually say the E2140 at 3.5Ghz is faster than any Intel Yorkfield running lower speeds then that.

so you are saying i will have to change this 200Euro motherboard to maybe get nice speeds (SB750)? ...im sorry to sound ungrateful, but when someone is selling a cpu with UNLOCKED feature, and it cant hit like 100mhz more without changing anything, then of course i will feel cheated a bit...its called misleading the customers...for all i knew i could have at least bought the 100Euro m2rs motherboar if i was gonna run everything on stock

Well, SB750 isnt out yet so there's not much to change right now. Also I dont know if it will fix the poor clocking or whether you just have a crap stepping. It's pretty hard to determine with a non-optimized SB.

Also, they sell the Black Edition to make OC'ing easier. As I said, AMD never gave any warranty you'll get good clocks or that the BE would overclock better. So you can feel cheated as much as you want, you aren't. You bought an unlocked 2.5Ghz Quadcore and that's what you got.

And whether it's a crap stepping or really only your motherboard, Ive no clue. I dont know about mine either. Ill have to wait for the SB750 and drop in the CPU there to see how it will do. If it's still crap I know enough and then Ill buy another Phenom.

Also I can think of a lot better motherboards if you want to run stock. Im a bit done with DFI atm anyway. Hiding options from BIOS, poor BIOS support etc. I hope they'll do a better job on the next boards but Im afraid they wont.

I have to agree, some of these 9850BEs are not worth what we paid for them but I guess we only paid extra for the privilege of being able to d**k around with the multi. The alternative is getting a darkside chip that does much better but still they are sold by the advertised speed. A Q6600 hits over 3G with about 1.3V but has the advantage of two dies. This improves head dissipation and is easier to get power into the circuits. Hopefully with 45nm this will be worked out.

No, it's working, but not optimized with Phenom.

btw i decided to keep the phenom and not take 5000+BE ...i exchanged one of my x2 ati cards, for regular 3870 so i will be running 3870x2+3870 triple cfX...they say thats the most improvement anyways

TCF is more usefull than QCF indeed. QCF will give higher numbers etc but in the end it's just a bit too much of it all.

What clocks are you brother's Phenom hitting? My CPU is week 10 too and OC's all. But as I said, Ive no clue if it's indeed a crap batch or just like batch and SB600 interference. Also, is you brother's stepping the same as yours apart from the week? Steppings would matter of course.

I think someone said that a bump in voltage is needed when that error is received. I know I read that on one of these forums somewhere and tried it and it worked for me.
