    # SIOUX Very nice review and good to see an "old" overclocking.dk user among the very respectable users of xtremesystems. I would like to ask if you have a qualified recommendation about which X48 motherboard is best for overclocking the hardware in my sig (well except for the two 9800 GTX in SLI ;-), say choosing from the Asus P5E64 WS Evolution, the Asus P5E3 Premium or the Foxconn Blackops? I saw at octeamdenmark.dk that you had a Blackops on the way have you tested that one yet? My Striker II Extreme is killing me so I'm ready for something consistent and stable instead.

    Thank you

I would go with the EVolution board for you setup. The results i have seen with blackops, is not as strong with quad core as the EVO

But they are both very good boards. if you just want easy BIOS and stability together with good OC potential, i would go with EVO for sure

SIOUX what´s the max FSB that you achived booting from bios?
i can´t pass over 570 even with low multi (it boots mas simply restarts when windows screen appers), maybe is cpu limit but just wanna check if theres any option\trick missing here.

    thank you

    @jpcastro:

CPU GTL & NB GTL can help you stabilize it.

already tried different values\combinations, notice that SIOUX used 0,62x and 0,67x in the bios pics but here is no go.

thanks anyway for the advise, i´ll continue making some more tests and try to get other cpu maybe!

I just orderd this WS Evolution board. Does anybody have experiences with this board and 2x2 GB RAM since it seems that high density/capacity RAM really stresses the boards?
Another thing can you pull off the heatpipe system (for replacing the TIM) and put it back on without ruining the "pins/splits" (don't know what they are called) that fastens the heatpipe system?
(I also posted this question in another thread hope it is ok)

I had no problem running 2x2GB at all. i did not test more than 550fsb with 4GB, course its for my 24/7 puter

yes...but always be carfull when moving the splits. i also think you can bye them somewhere, if some should be broke. but not sure. Just use something non metalic to squeeze them together and then pull a little

Thanks again SIOUX sounds amazing. You didn't happen to test your QX9650 combined with 2x2GB on this board as well? I can't wait to get this board. I badly need a success experience after two faulty Striker II Extreme boards.

Homer# I did not test with QX9650, as i use E8500 for everyday use i will see if i can find the time to try one of the comming days.

Marc# Nope...the EVO eats 550 with 2x2gb for breakfeast My old P5E WS PRO did not have a problem with 535fsb with 2x2 or 4x1gb. Also for stable sytem i have to back down to 540fsb, but its still quit ok.

SIOUX can I ask for hints to some "golden" settings for a FSB around 450 with the hardware in my sig - of course with FSB:MEM 1:2? I have not used an Intel chipset for ages and just got used to the BIOS on the SIIE. Need more time if I have to go systematically through the voltage settings. Another question is it possible to set the MHC read delay (tRD) on this MB and what is that parameter called in this BIOS?
I read elsewhere that you mentioned CPU GTL and NB GTL voltage reference as key to high FSB stability. On my SIIE I tweaked these settings as some of the last after adjusting PLL, VTT, NB and SB voltage. So far attempting to tweak the latter voltages at FSB 450 have resulted in lots of Windows corruptions. I keep the primary memory timings constant as well as the v-mem (8-8-8-8-24 2N 1.8 V) and leave the rest of the memory timings on Auto for now. I will work on it.
FSB 400 seems just fine 1N with a multi of 7.5

The best (passing 15 loops of SPi 32M) settings were as follows:
    CPU voltage: Auto
    CPU GTL: Auto
    PLL: 1.7
    FSB TV: 1.5
    DRAM: 1.8
NB: 1.61 (incresing NB voltage results in freezes)
    NB GTL: Auto
    SB: 1.2
    clock O-C V: Auto
    Load line cal: Auto

Besides that I'm struggeling to stabelize my CPU at 10x400, MEM 1600, 7-7-7-20 2N. At least I can pass a 32M SPi but not 1h OCCT yet. Working on it (maybe I should aim lower).

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks.

The retails also running FSB like hell.

    7 x 572 out of the box - Vtt = 1.38 & Vnb = 1.55 :

    Maybe I can do 600FSB ~ 1.6 Vnb.

RAM is not much tweaked here, but as You can see this board offers the 1:1 divider also........

    Think all problems are RAM related - I can't run 266 strap - 333 & 400 is fine and for me only 1:1 & 1:2 divider works - 5:8 is a no go.......

Need to try different RAM sticks soon.........

    If nothing works nomore......:
