SLI on non nvidia chipset drivers, can u help these guyz undertaking this project ?

Do any of u guys know how to mod nvidia drivers so that SLI will work on non nvidia chipsets , if u do maybe u could help these guys over here.

If u have access to 2 nvidia cards and a non nvidia mobo , u can help by testing the drivers , much appreciated.

dude people have been trying to do this since g80 first came out, if anyone here knew how to do so I'm pretty sure they would have done it by now


After the 7xxx series drivers were hacked I'm pretty sure nvidia tightened down on what ever method they use to control sli only working on their own mobos. Its probably possible to do, I just don't think it will happen before gt200 comes out, and by then it won't matter as gt200 should be ~/more powerful than the 9800gx2 (which means roughly 2x 8800gtx performance)

I'll bet if someone does have the skillz and $ to reverse engineer the cause of why SLI is impossible on other chipsets that Nvidia will have the lawyers on them like white on rice. It might even be a joint venture between Intel and AMD and Nvidia to keep SLI proprietary so that Intel and AMD don't get sued also.

I talked with some Asus enginner from Taiwan last week, and they already HAVE fully working hacked drivers fro SLI on intel chipset (only for testing purposes). But this driver is not public and never be ... because NVIDIA Copyright.

Thats what it is going to take. A company as big as Asus is actually going to somehow have to find away around that copyright legally or to buy some type of license for some obscene amount of money per board. Maybe a disgruntled employee could help out.

Should be able to do because the 9800 gx2 is pratically SLI but just on a single pci-e slot and it runs on intel chipsets? If you could run 2 8800GT's on an intel chipset and possibly get it to register as a 9800 gx2 ? Just some wishful thinking. Building a system now , would love sli but hate the problems of the nvidia chipset.

It is well known about the 7800's. It will never happen with anything newer unless Nvidia is behind it and gets paid for it.

i dont think that u understand, the engineering drivers dont work like the public drivers and arnt game optimized, and u can use quatros on any chipset, so go and send the money on those if u want it, other than that it wont happen (the g80 quatro is only $950-1250 so its not much more than the ultra and no u cant flash to them they use a double sized frame buffer and different bios config)


also things like the 790i and 9800gx2 and skull trail ahve a newer sli controller that dosnt have to bounce every cross gpu transaction to the NB or cpu but just to that so it works alot faster

sli will be dead soon, CUDA dosnt work with sli enabled so its useless IMO why the new cards are out and it gets implemented

Personally, I don't see the point in going SLI or Crossfire until the new summer launches... Going 9800GTX SLI only to find it gets crushed by 4870 or 9900GTX a month later is just foolish. I'm not encouraging the endless "wait cycle", but it's less than a month away...

i've checked bout CUDA which you mentioned .. does this mean in near future ... we can easily oc the gpu logically instead of physical like is done now ..

also, why end of line for sli? then change of mobo again?????

HP and Asus worked to get xfire on the striker with a custom bios, its xfire on sli they just removed a block they didnt use an intel chipset

with cuda it can offload physics and texture mapping to make it so its faster with a GPGPU and a GPU than 2 GPUs

They enabled Crossfire on the 680i and 780i, not SLI on the X38/48.
