oc gains from switching from 134 to 404/507??

just want to hear from everyone thats tried switching their mach1/2 from 134 over to 404 or 507, how much increase in *STABLE* overclocks did you get?

just want to see what the average gains are of doing it as one person has already claimed they gained nothing at all from it, yet marci said gains should be 100-150mhz per 10c lower temps.

basically i dont wanna shorten the life of the compressor if the gain is going to be little or nothing.

Well my MachII stock can bench my FX-51 with 3D to about 2980MHz, My 507 MachI can bench 3D to 3024,, on a good day.
My CPU temps are around 10c colder with the 507 rig.

    Wow, thats a nice gain.

XP2100+ on a Stock mach I did 2850 MHz prime stable, evap temp rose to -22 deg C.

same chip on a R404a modded mach I without cap tube mod did 2931 MHz prime stable, evap temp never above -42 deg C. Could bench this one at 2972 MHz on a good day.

so 81 MHz gain for me

the general conclusion seems to be gains are little or nothing with only 1 person getting near 100mhz gain let alone 200 or 300.

fugger how many p4s have you tried with 134 vs 404/507? only one?

its not really worth shortening the compressor for what will likely be a very small gain if anything at all, except for those tiny number of people with endless money to burn and a sick obsession with 3dmark2001. if its a 200mhz gain, and likely the same significant gain on future chips then it would be but that doesnt seem the case at all.

Ewok, Compressor life is based on mean time between failure. The compressors used in the Prometeia and Vapochill have MTBF ratings in years (>15). Compressors modded now wont see any degredation of performance, or failure for 10 - 12 years at least, probably longer.

    a sick obsession with 3dmark2001
A sick obsession with 3dmark? Hmm, no one in these forums has this problem

But being obsessed has some benefits - like draining your wallet and getting new toys a lot!

To semi paraphrase Michael Douglas from Wall Street - Obsession is good, obsession is everything.

Compressor life has more to do with fine tuning the system than anything else.
